Must-reads: Chart of the week, ebola, GPRO earnings, Google Glass
I’ve got some trading and investing ideas brewing and looking like they are setting up for us, so stay tuned in days ahead for some Trade Alerts. Just an FYI.
Markets are down around 1% each this morning, with the highest beta highflying tech sector leading the way lower.
We can point to several factors leading to today’s declines, but mostly I think it’s due to the markets recent change in the path of least resistance having turned downward.
I’ve been on the road and there is a lot of news, headlines and trends to touch upon, so let’s do a Revolution Investing Must-Reads.
Despite the recent downtrend in the markets, my analysis points to continued bubble blowing bull markets ahead for now. Indeed, in this week’s Scutify.com Chart of the Week (from Gary Tanashian) I expect that the current trend will take us to another batch of “Overthrow of Greed” data points:
What to watch for in GoPro earnings – I personally have bought two GoPro Heros in the last 90 days and I suspect GPRO will report some big growth in units as well as revenues. Earnings leverage should be good as component prices fell but GoPro kept their own prices steady. Given the stock’s cult status and the low float available, those kind of fundamentals in the report would probably pop the stock. I don’t have any money on the line with GoPro either direction, as I’ve put money on the longer-term better way to play this sector, as in Ambarella, which makes the components that GoPro and other like devices use inside their cameras.
Peace Corps evacuates region as Sierra Leone declares state of emergency over #Ebola – This outbreak is scary and my prayers go out to all involved. This is already probably a factor in the current market downtrend and has the potential to become a bigger factor if not contained.
Yum said the latest China food scandal is hurting business, plus Red Robin has America’s most unhealthy meal plus Whole Foods Downgraded – I wonder if now might be a good time to start scaling into Whole Foods while its at 52 week lows and being downgraded across the Street while the trend is clearly accelerating towards its kind of approach to food.
Google Glass is really cool – See pics. My wife won’t let me work on my new Google Glass since she put them on and keeps exclaiming “Cody, you can…!” about all the cool stuff these glasses do. Wearables are going to be HUGE whether we like it or not. LucyBottrell and I are finishing our book about stock picks for the Wearables Revolution this week.
