Apple-Does anybody have any confidence in this company anymore? It sounds from Codys comments today that he doesn’t.
@JeffDaniel: Yes confidence in new products upcoming. Its very hard to have amazing new product we havent thought of but great i watch, amazing TV glasses sounds looks good as a starting point. This past weekend I was in NYC high line park and it was very buy otherwise I would have stopped the person I saw wearing google glasses which looked amazingly cool with orange small clear cube glass.

August 1, 2013 – 8:27 am
What would that put sandisks speculated target price going forward-
eryba1
August 1, 2013 – 8:28 am
@seanssocal: it surely puts a floor here after the 15% decline on heavy vol on digi times report demand will be weak in Q3 and 4 of this year a 180 from the strong beta and guide higher company reported and stated just 2 weeks ago
seanssocal
August 1, 2013 – 8:31 am

Oops wrong button, anyway in reference to an earlier question from someone NIMSRI, I have picked up some uvxy, would that be advisable?
eryba1
August 1, 2013 – 8:35 am
@seanssocal: u have lots on long exposure to hedge in case of downside moves?
seanssocal
August 1, 2013 – 8:37 am
Yes,it appears some heavy volume occurred yesterday, don’t know what to make of it.
eryba1
August 1, 2013 – 8:37 am
@seanssocal: if u r referring to sndk past few days heavy vol and now we hear sndk has been buying bk shares itself in the open market
seanssocal
August 1, 2013 – 8:38 am
Sorry, heavy volume on uvxy
Olivepetunia
August 1, 2013 – 8:42 am
@eryba1: Do you utilize charts at all? My guess is that SNDK will regain 50 day moving average, say in the next week, and then resume tracking above it. That converts to $60-62 short term.
seanssocal
August 1, 2013 – 8:44 am
Im referring to uvxy,

Anyone thinking its safe to assume FB will hover around its IPO price for a while the weak hands sell at break even? Would selling some out of the money covered calls here be a good play?
eryba1
August 1, 2013 – 10:32 am
@Olivepetunia: more and more I look at charts just to get a feel of things, see direction of stocks support at moving avgs RSI levels
eryba1
August 1, 2013 – 10:33 am
@msamuels2000: yes but could also if we see a market pullback fall to 34-35 level where U want to reload again and same sentiment mentioned by cody yest in chat
eryba1
August 1, 2013 – 10:49 am
from another trader on FB : I’m looking to add to Facebook as it probes $38 resistance again. I believe FB will spike sharply once it shows signs of holding above $38.
eryba1
August 1, 2013 – 11:05 am
Im wathcing FB closely to see if we hold 38 ish and BUST thru 38 to who knows 42-44 or do we have a pullback in market and FB sees 34-35
msamuels2000
August 1, 2013 – 11:14 am
@eryba1: not to thrilled about getting my shares called away. I think I’ll look to add on any weakness
eryba1
August 1, 2013 – 11:20 am
@msamuels2000: I feel the same for now, However being flexible and open to suggestions and seeing how stock reacts.
eryba1
August 1, 2013 – 11:25 am
from that FB trader: i just think this is going to be the go to stock for the hot money. I expect it to move like TSLA and NFLX and not give any easy entry on dips. No targets.

Any FLSR trades before earnings next week?
lawrenc338
August 1, 2013 – 11:43 am
FSLR
rzepeda
August 1, 2013 – 11:45 am
Anyone looking at GOGO… recent IPO with poor performance. They allow for WIFI on airplanes… the story sounds good as I think more people will want to be connected in-flight. Any thoughts?
eryba1
August 1, 2013 – 11:51 am
@lawrenc338: none for me here on FSLR want to see #’s and reaction to then stock fell to 41 bounced to 50 and lets see if reaction sees breakout bk to old hi’s or retest of low 40’s
eryba1
August 1, 2013 – 11:52 am
@rzepeda: wifi on plane is interesting, so many think GREAT but its one place U can relax watch movie sleep etc vs texting e-mail work etc and in most cases U need to pay vs free service for now.
Olivepetunia
August 1, 2013 – 11:56 am
re FSLR: Cody’s response to question in yesterday’s chat – “…I’ll be watching SPWR’s report tonight and how the stock trades tomorrow for a better idea as to what we might see from FSLR next week.” SPWR is trading down 8% today.
eryba1
August 1, 2013 – 11:57 am
@Olivepetunia: ok need to look at SPWR did it beat rise into earnings in a BIG way and just a pullback etc
eryba1
August 1, 2013 – 11:58 am
SunPower (SPWR) shares, however, were down 2% in after-hours trading, after it released results, as its revenue guidance for the current quarter fell short. Still, the stock has soared nearly 400% this year.
eryba1
August 1, 2013 – 11:58 am
eryba1
August 1, 2013 – 12:08 pm
@Olivepetunia: so on a 400% move this year in the larger picture the 8% pullback might as well be an 8 TENTHS of a percent pullback.
ybsng
August 1, 2013 – 12:12 pm

I like SNDk for its report it sold down 15% but yesterdays news may have put a short term btm in it with DIV, share buyback on open market increased buyback program. FB is another name all want into a
eryba1
August 1, 2013 – 12:18 pm
@ybsng: its run in a stair step pattern from 161 to 211.5 today new hi 30% rise it can always pullback. so lets see earnings and reaction to them 1st
ybsng
August 1, 2013 – 12:19 pm
thanks for the insight mate
Olivepetunia
August 1, 2013 – 12:21 pm
@eryba1 True, but SPWR is still down today on the news. There was a similar selloff in May (also earnings related?) that lasted 3 days and reached 24% before stabilizing and several months later moving higher. Does this really give us any idea what to expect from FSLR next week?
eryba1
August 1, 2013 – 12:24 pm
@Olivepetunia: earnings and reaction to them are on a company by company basis. SPWR 400% rise is HUGE!!!!! would LIOVE that in a FB or APPLE this year. lets be patient and see what FSLR reports, if U have a nice gain sell some if a nice sized position in your acct- consider it the insurance on it. if it pulls back on good news U get in at better $ after selling some. if it shoots higher the diff bet what U sold some to where the new higher price is consider that the insurance premium U pay to have safe guarded your position and acct
eryba1
August 1, 2013 – 12:26 pm
interesting so FAR the GLD could easily retest 116 area yet holding 125-127 level. lets watch gold carefully on a possible breakout above 50 day moving avg at 128.7 where it almost breached to upside yesterday at 129+ after the fed

August 2, 2013 – 10:31 am
@msamuels2000: yes lets see GLD break above 127-128. SNDk lets see if that can get back above its 50 day moving at rt around 60
msamuels2000
August 2, 2013 – 10:33 am
@eryba1: I think SNDK is a lock to break 60
eryba1
August 2, 2013 – 10:34 am

August 2, 2013 – 11:20 am
thinking of taking some profits in LNKD and a few others today
cprestileo
August 2, 2013 – 11:22 am
@eryba1: do you see the s&p pulling back from here at all?
eryba1
August 2, 2013 – 11:24 am
@cprestileo: its always possible at new hi,s vix very low but one one of the other indicators I use the http://www.mcoscillator.com/market_breadth_data/ we are not overbought instead basically neutral. What I am looking at is individual stocks and how they have moved like LNKD it rose from 160 to 237 today. even the sndk I had been buying on the way down to 53-54 now at 58-59
eryba1
August 2, 2013 – 11:27 am
@cprestileo: there are many many dip buyers out there underperforming the markets so dips are being bought. We could easily get a shakeout. SO I am just watching individual stocks and deciding for my own portfolio what has run really well to trim some back to have extra ammo to buy if we do pullback on a stock by stock basis
cprestileo
August 2, 2013 – 11:43 am
@eryba1: thanks for that.
eryba1
August 2, 2013 – 11:43 am
i am thinking as i trim some names the QQQ COULD GET TO 79-80 before any meaningful correction
eryba1
August 2, 2013 – 11:47 am
@cprestileo: its ALWAYS wise to have dry gunpowder when we are making new his week after week. Individual stocks fall for many reasons. when a stock is up 20,30,40% in very short order to trim some may feel hard to do but taking a profit never hurt anyone. Stocks usually give U many opportunities to get back in at times we always have to be patient. But never wise to be ALL in ALL the time after such huge runs if U R around to buy dips when they come
cprestileo
August 2, 2013 – 11:56 am
@eryba1: I need to work on my discipline. I’ve had a rough go of it as of late due to positioning for a dip which has yet to come. As of now I am sticking with what I have and waiting for an opportunity – not trying to force anything.
eryba1
August 2, 2013 – 11:59 am
@cprestileo: one lesson I have learned you can not time the dip, markets stay longer going in their direction (up or down) longer than u can stay liquid and SANE! Wait for the dip to emerge before making moves like you are speaking of. In this case there are so mnay dip buyers any real dip may not last long for possible shorts or other to work for long JMHO However we have had some HUGE HITS recently in LNKD, FB,AAPL,CIEN to name a few
Teewilly
August 2, 2013 – 1:14 pm
eryba1: Cody recommends buying physical gold and silver but for me money is in an IRA so is there still some short term 1-2 years saftey in buying the gld or slv?
rkumar
August 2, 2013 – 1:18 pm
aapl fb goog bidu leading mkts higher
eryba1
August 2, 2013 – 1:18 pm
@Teewilly: I have more GLD than physical gold myself. To me for now it more liquid and perhaps safer for me to have an easier more liquid way to invest. The GLD I hope has hit bottom at 116 and is forming some sort of base here at 127-128. if cody will be right and his 6 FIGURE target is attained I think there will be plenty of time to trade out of the GLD if we so wish BEFORE the reasons he outlined could send gold to breathtaking heights and the gld to well unknow territory as physical gold will be coveted while paper gold like the GLD will be shunned!
eryba1
August 2, 2013 – 1:20 pm
@rkumar: really GREAT moves over the past 2-4 weeks in AAPL,CIEN,LNKD,FB, FF, AMZN as cody has said remember these days if when a shakeout does occur to have $$ from sales here trimming to buy weakness
cprestileo
August 2, 2013 – 1:25 pm
@eryba1: I read earlier that you would by FB around the 34-35 level. is that correct? if it doesn’t go down there, at what level above would you add? 42ish?
eryba1
August 2, 2013 – 1:27 pm
@cprestileo: thats correct. I would add at 34-35 on a pullback and yesterday on the advise of another trader I did add Fb around 38 looking for a breakout above it. watching that last buy very closely
eryba1
August 2, 2013 – 1:29 pm
@cprestileo: However if you dont have ANY FB that is a diff story I had bot in the mid 20’s so I did avg up 9 not always wise) but looking to see if that pop does occur if not I will rethink this shortrer term portion of my position
cprestileo
August 2, 2013 – 1:46 pm
@eryba1: I currently don’t hold any. I just figured that 38 is that IPO area and what point would we need to break through in order to get to higher levels.
eryba1
August 2, 2013 – 1:51 pm
@cprestileo: some are thinking 38 is the point of resistance as u clearly stated that was the IPO $. The thinking is for those who think a pop is coming is that the longer it stays at 38 the more readily available (if no meaningful pullback emerges) that money will flow into FB like is had for NFLX and TSLA
eryba1
August 2, 2013 – 1:52 pm
U would need to see HI vol and a breakout of at least to me 38.8-39 with a solid close above those levels. that is the thinking
cprestileo
August 2, 2013 – 2:05 pm
@eryba1: thanks you so much for your input. do you have any opinion on YELP?
eryba1
August 2, 2013 – 2:07 pm
@cprestileo: yes I do. I LOVE the site, use it VERY often along with trip advisor and we saw how both have soared after earnings. I hope apple buys YELP to gain some social content footing. As for buying either lets see if we get a pullback of basing for either.
eryba1
August 2, 2013 – 2:08 pm
thats a pullback OR basing action for either.

@rkumar: @hc2002: STocks are acting quite well lets be prepared or having started to trim some and have dry gun powder just in case. All time hi’s on Avg’s feels great. Hope all your portfolios are at or near hi’s. However lets play some defense by trimming to have some capital for a rainy day. We know when they come they are at times ugly. hc2002
August 3, 2013 – 1:39 pm
“This leaves us with a choice of narratives. Pessimists fear that sentiment has run ahead of economic fundamentals. Optimists still believe that stocks are a predictor of economic prospects, and hope gross domestic product will eventually catch up. The 99-percenters acknowledge that easy money, surging stocks, and dormant wages have benefited Wall Street more than Main Street, and find it hard to fully embrace the rally. And realists argue the bullish trot is swelled by a dearth of compelling alternatives, what with commodities and emerging markets held back by Chinese slack, and bonds squeezed by rising interest rates.”
hc2002
August 3, 2013 – 1:44 pm

using this one indicator: http://www.mcoscillator.com/market_breadth_data/ when we cluster in the negative territory we are in a downtrend so we are there now so be cautious in individual names even though for now certain stocks acting VERY WELL like goog, aapl, sndk, lnkd, cien etc

eryba1
August 7, 2013 – 10:14 am
@jahmon: I hope his comments positive or negative should not sway you. At the end these are your accts if U R up nicely into earnings and have seen other stocks react trim some. If it falls U can buy back more if it pops you are still in a good position holding some

Olivepetunia
August 7, 2013 – 2:11 pm
@vmontes It seems that as you get further from the current stock price the cost is lower but the move required to be profitable is greater. Market seems to be softening generally; post earning season where any disappointment is punished. In the end I’m inclined to agree with Cody and go with straight puts to keep cost down. We’ll see how it plays.

And if U wnat to gamble on earnings do it with little risk to the portfolio. Codys picks as of june have been outperforming and have really righted the ship in his lagging tech common long portfolio. With LNKD, CIEN, FB,FF,CCC,sndk, amzn, apple and gooog a bit one should be if diversified at new his
jahmon

Anybody have an opinion on Apple? I see a slow melt up to $499ish. If no lines for new phone then back to $420. I do see a strong possibility of $560 by year end.

August 7, 2013 – 7:06 pm
@JeffDaniel: same thinking here. Melt up during the run up of new product. I see trip back to low 400 regardless. New phone could be a disappointment. People always get disappointed by their new phones, until sales numbers pouring in.
