@JSmith: I will try to do my best. Selling what we bought if we see greater downside ? Let’s see how we open Monday morning. We could gap up leaving us stuck if u were looking to buy. If we gap down then we r stuck in much lower levels vs where we just bought Friday. Thus a safer approach is wait with cash and wait this story out. Crimea vote over now and overwhelming % want to cecede from Ukraine. Let’s see how market accepts the peoples vote.

60 minutes on cbs now. One segment on drones. Doubt invn will be mentioned but let’s see what drones r up to today and into the future.
chrismossey
March 16, 2014 – 8:04 pm
@eryba1: was invn mentioned?
eryba1
March 16, 2014 – 8:45 pm
@chrismossey: no it was not.

Somehow I think although I may be wrong that it’s a done deal with sanctions likely. No war no combat that aspect never made sense from the get go. The vote results were expected and the market anticipated that with its decline this week.lets see if invn gets any attention tomorrow from investors from 60 min segment.

March 16, 2014 – 8:51 pm
@chrismossey: it’s early but Dow futures were down 75+ now down 25. Gold up a few dollars. Tom open is a long ways off.
chrismossey
March 16, 2014 – 8:51 pm
@eryba1: just watched the 51 minute motley fool presentation on sierra wireless. We might want to look at them on weakness. They changed strategies to motion sensing technology.
eryba1
March 16, 2014 – 8:52 pm
Let’s put it up on our screens Tom.

GM- Crimea voted as expected and the markets are for now buying the news after the pullback. If you read from the link posted above a TRUCE was called between Ukraine and Russia this sunday that if honored runs until this coming friday. The yield on the 10 year is up 1%, Gold is down a few dollars and stocks seem to have a small gap up opening. The German DAX index is up .7% after a 4-5% decline last week alone. Seems like INVN is getting some attention this morning after the CBS 60min segment which aired last night about DRONES and the market for them Stock is up 3.7% in pre market.

ISI believes the summer launch of $AAPL’s 2 new iPhones/larger screens w/b the “Mother Lode” of all upgrade cycles. Reits buy & $600 target.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 9:20 am
InvenSense price target raised to $28 from $23 at RW Baird- Baird raised its price target on InvenSense (INVN) on the belief the company may have won all of the Samsung Galaxy S5 in addition to multiple growth opportunities with the launch of Apple’s smart watch this year
chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 9:20 am
@eryba1: the mother load and only a 17% pop is not a great deal to be excited about.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 9:21 am
@chrismossey: LOL! Its just their opinion. The market may act differently on the up or downside.
chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 9:22 am
apple not about upgrades it is about knew products. I have asked easily 50 people if they need an iPhone with a larger screen as an upgrade from the 5s and including me, not one person says yes. Most have mini’s and iPads and like the size differential. Samsung’s biggest phone is not that great of seller.
JSmith
March 17, 2014 – 9:24 am
@chrismossey: Asia
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 9:25 am
@chrismossey: YES apple about products, new product categoris, CHINA SALES, global sales etc- There was even an update to the iphone IOS this weekend. I downloaded it and its pretty good so far, some new features. As for iphone 6 large screen being one aspect of new features interests me. I will upgrade from current iphone 5 model.
chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 9:25 am
@JSmith: then it better be cheap and it won’t be. I just don’t see the excitement of a new phone 9 mos after the last new one. I think this thing is doa.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 9:27 am
@chrismossey: let the market tell us and for now speaking volumes. markets want growth and single digit % growth aint cutting it. This is a make of break year for apple, It needs to come up with its promised great products and new items in new categories or this market will leave it behind like DELL, INTC, CSCO etc
chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 9:27 am
A new category will excite me a great deal and I still love the company and echo system and will never leave them. It is just this phone would have to floor people to get them to upgrade. If this gets big enough and is successful then they could have iPad problems.
chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 9:29 am
@eryba1: by the way the more research on do on SoC’s and MeM’s the more excited I am about invn. If Sierra Wireless transition to machine to machine is successful they will benefit as well. I am going to add 300 shares of swir today and see how it behaves.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 9:31 am
@chrismossey: ipads for me are wifi devices for home / work and less 4G plan usage. Large screened phone would be just one aspect of needed / or new changes. Iwatch may be cool diff and fit many needs. Need patience here.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 9:32 am
@chrismossey: U R workin it on INVN all out 6-8% pop, then drops 4-5% U buy all bk now pops 4%

March 17, 2014 – 9:33 am
emes upgraded target $71-
chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 9:38 am
@eryba1: on ipads – the corporate market is huge. My company finally approved paying for mobile connected iPads and I hear from my NYC peers from other companies same is happening for them. This will make be buy a second iPad for work purposes. I am not carrying around a monster phone in my suit jacket pocket. It will be great to see how it plays out and again, I love the company and own a lot of stock and options. Just not crazy about this upgrade. Unless it changes completely what I can do with the phone. Never carry a wallet or passport and just have my phone connected to amex and visa of choice, make my international travel easier. Let me get on all my flights through tsa pre etc. Then I will upgrade from the 5s.
chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 9:41 am
@eryba1: invn is working out.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 9:41 am
@chrismossey: Lots of demands. we will see new products and features. I want a much longer battery life on iphones, bigger screen will help.
chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 9:47 am
@eryba1: midd and amba popping here as well. JDSU not getting the lift out of the same news. Cien is up a bit. Nice open for the most part.

@chrismossey: 60MIN exposed some very practical uses, Used in japan nuclear disaster to see devastation, take readings etc.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 9:47 am
@chrismossey: YES ADD for me CELG, SCTY, FSLR acting well as well, SNDK
Turtle108
March 17, 2014 – 9:52 am
@eryba1: speaking of drones- “Making the case that Africa needs drones more than roads” – will use drones for delivering meds, food, etc- much faster than waiting for a road to be built
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 9:53 am
@Turtle108: the market is quite large that was discussed and your example now is very accurate. Bezos sound MAD on the previous 60Min segment in 2013 and now mad genius perhaps after last nights drone piece.
chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 9:56 am
bidding on goog, swir, yelp, cmg, gdxj, celg, fb options, ssys options, scty, p puts, xrt puts. all under the market, if a few fill when the market cools at lunch great if not then patience is king especially when russia is discussing nuclear ash.
Turtle108
March 17, 2014 – 9:56 am
@eryba1: submarine drones will predict the weather months in advance – I did not see the show, but more and more articles for sure

March 17, 2014 – 9:57 am
@chrismossey: putin is not going away. This is why we held some cash some stock and some gold. we have flexibility for today and its working rt now.
chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 9:59 am
@eryba1: yes, also just big on some gdx in account that needed some. This volatility can be fun to work around. I am sitting at about 45-50% cash and have places to raise it if need be so I am looking forward to it. Ok, back to regular job now. enjoy the day.
dannychan1
March 17, 2014 – 10:02 am
@eryba1: let’s re-visit one of Cody’s holdings LNN. It has pulled back a fair bit since the highs in the 90s.. Do you think it’s time it’s worth another look and possibly buying in at this time?
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 10:03 am
@dannychan1: let it find support first or base out. Decline from 92 to 82 = just over 10%.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 10:06 am
@chrismossey: SO U chasing here? I see the 40-50% cash is itching to be put to work? So fri this is a strong bounce. Will this turn into another V move higher after the 2% pullback?
chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 10:07 am
@eryba1: not at all. small tranches and under the market. I have a few options position that I would like to exit if I can get closer to par.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 10:10 am
@chrismossey: options- Understood, just dont chase too much. Individual names acting well / keeping up with the market. FB lagging as well as LNKD, gold obvious small pullback for now as fears abate for today.
jakef1111
March 17, 2014 – 10:23 am
@eryba1: i was thinking of the markets reaction thursday/friday to crim/russ news the chat rooms reaction and codys general non reaction and tried to analyze what we have been told from revolution investing… It brought me back to the eu bailouts for greece spain italy france and the breakup talk…. What im getting at is basically the reason we paid cody big bucks is to coach us to be successful INVESTORS not traders…any business or team or person stands a better chance of winning a battle when they have a plan…not react to events but be prepared for them… Just my thoughts after the rollercoaster reactions the market has had lately… Trying to position for a reaction will most likely lead to lost money… Just my thoughts stepping back from this situation
kirank
March 17, 2014 – 10:31 am
eryba1 – Any thoughts on Yelp? I’m thinking of adding a small tranche today.
joe.evicel
March 17, 2014 – 10:32 am
Anyone buying $FB?
chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 10:33 am
@joe.evicel: added fb options today
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 10:39 am
@jakef1111: investors vs traders- Interesting and a long convo topic. We are investors we dont sell all buy all, We have a lost DECADE in the S&P from 2000-2010 the S&P went no where for INVESTORS and buy and hold. SInce the 2009 bottom buy and hold has worked for selective stocks and the market averages. We always need to stay flexible. Some here are able to be active in TRADING WITH CODY others less active. You have to find your own style that fits you. By you I dont mean you I mean each individual person has to find how they can best invest and what comfort level.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 10:40 am
@joe.evicel: I am waiting for some support at 67-68. Spoke about this last week to see if it finds that support otherwise 63.5 target is next below its 50 day moving avg
notlaw72
March 17, 2014 – 10:43 am
@eryba1: regarding FB, the support you mentioned at 67-68 is this derived from the 20 day MA or something else?
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 10:43 am
@jakef1111: PLAN- YES we discussed Crimea VOTE plan ALL of last week. Have some cash, trim very good winners, have some gold and thus gives us flexibility coming into today. I think it has been proven successful. WE were prepared bot small tranches Friday and today we are being rewarded in SSYS, INVN and other names.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 10:43 am
@notlaw72: NO, On march 3rd it had found support at the 67 range as well.
notlaw72
March 17, 2014 – 10:47 am
@eryba1: OK Thanks much.
chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 10:49 am
@notlaw72: If you are going to add to FB this is a decent spot to do it. Give yourself a little extra room to add more if goes lower. This stock will get positive attention heading into earnings late next month.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 10:49 am
@notlaw72: just being flexible, its has a great run new all time hi’s last week at 72.6 intraday and 72 closing hi. SO far 9% like decline. Its getting tempting
chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 10:49 am
@eryba1: you wanted 67 last week.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 10:51 am
@chrismossey: I wanted to see if it holds 67-68 otherwise 50 day avg next at 63.5. It is a good tranche buy here as u said and to leave room for more.

chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 10:54 am
@notlaw72: I was just filled on stock at 66.89 and options may 60’s
jakef1111
March 17, 2014 – 10:54 am
@eryba1: i understand thats where active investors come in… I just see cody less inclined to react to things and want to remind myself at least
chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 10:57 am
@jakef1111: I hear you on active vs not, I can only speak for myself but there is a big core of my portfolio that I am not active with and more buy and hold but there is a 1/3 of my portfolio I trade with to generate weekly cash returns for income. So it comes down to ones objectives. There is nothing wrong with buy and hold and there is nothing wrong with trading around core positions.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 11:09 am
@jakef1111: we each have to choose how active or passive we want to be or can be.
jakef1111
March 17, 2014 – 11:12 am
@eryba1: i agree with that i have no problems with active investing around your core names with buying dips trimming rips… Im mainly talking about reacting to news events like russia… Greece etc… Decisions shouldnt be based on that… At least thats what i have learned from codys reaction to the eu bailouts
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 11:13 am
@chrismossey: well said. We also Jakef1111 because the world changes, information about companies change sometimes for better sometimes for worse we need to move with what we are given vs stay rigid and indecisive if the news affects our holdings one way or another. We are not day trading here at all IMO. we are selling rips higher partial tranche sells and buying back those tranches we sold at lower levels if we can trading around a core holding thus never selling and buying all and neither at once.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 11:15 am
@jakef1111: yes NEVER PANIC! Thats always bad, we maneuver around news, react to what may or may not come. Take some defensive steps, cant always be all in especially with the world the way it is. Gold as a hedge has been quite rewarding ion 2014 and as an investment after its near 30% decline in 2013.
chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 11:16 am
@jakef1111: The situations you reference though are we cause the dips and rips. So they can be leveraged as opportunity. what if each qtr you one has more assists to invest with. We would want them to buy the stocks that are best to be bought at that time and perhaps wait for a better entry point for names that are moving. This chat yields great information.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 11:18 am
FSLR acting VERY WELL, presenting a at conf this week and many expecting good news
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 11:18 am
We are seeing support on FB rt now if it holds that is great at 67
chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 11:18 am
@eryba1: did you add a small tranche to this today or scrty
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 11:19 am
@chrismossey: no moves today. tranches fri are rewarding for now. Maybe some FB 1/2 a tranche at 67 today will see. I’m comfortable with near 30% cash, gold as hedge and long positions which FB is my biggest holding followed by INVN
chrismossey
March 17, 2014 – 11:20 am
@eryba1: noticing that gdx and gdxj are both about to have a golden cross situation. This will pull in some buyers.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 11:22 am
@chrismossey: For most chart watchers, the classic golden cross develops when the 50-day moving average of a market crosses above the 200-day moving average

FB finding some legs lets see the close. For the ones that trimmed GLD/ GDX/ GDXJ on fri or last week as it ramped higher, question to be looking to answer now is when to start buying bk. GDX 26.5 or lower?

@eryba1 @cody Is the drop in 3D printing stocks permanent? Did I mis-read his latest missive (Russia, Ukraine, etc). My own instinct is to take a chance with them for the next few years. However if there is a reason to believe that they are not going anywheres, then no sense in having money invested in them.
ebdavids
March 17, 2014 – 2:12 pm
@eryba1: do you see any significance in fact that GDXJ hasn’t shown its usual significant volatility vs GDX today? Would this make it a stronger candidate for turnaround/recovery if gold were to turn around (for example, if GDX got to its 26.5 level)? Or is this a tea-leave that’s hard to interpret?
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 2:12 pm
@carl: I did not read it that way. I like the leader in that industry in SSYS its trying to form a W bottom. Watching it closely. I dont think its dead money, its undergone a correction.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 2:13 pm
@ebdavids: I mentioned early today it could be one GDX holding down harder than the rest for some reason perhaps explaining why its down more today than the more volatile GDXJ.

eryba1

eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 2:46 pm
@JSmith: Its a good question to trim or not to trim. Tough one RT now its acting well, market greed index closed fri 43 today 47 so nothing crazy., Im inclined to hold for now. If we another move tomorrow like we are seeing today in INVN I will surely trim some. Same happened last time had 2 back to back 5-8% moves. People catching into to drone tech? APple rumor never and prob will never be confirmed until after someone opens up an iwatch to see who made it into the device.

indiasilver
March 17, 2014 – 2:53 pm
@eryba1 I’ve got a question for you about asset allocation. What percent of your portfolio do you dedicate to any one position? It seems like if you have a max of 5% in any one position, you would have a minimum of 20 stocks in your allocation. I know you keep some aside so you are not 100% invested, but still, not all your positions will be 5%. So what percentage are you buying when you do a 1/3 tranche of something you believe in, like FB? Just trying to put a gauge on what you are buying and selling on dips and rips…
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 2:53 pm
@chrismossey: today its finding support at 50,
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 2:54 pm
@indiasilver: good question. give me a fe min will type it out
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 2:54 pm
a few
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 2:58 pm
@indiasilver: For me a healthy portfolio has max allocation of 10% into one position. At times I may take that % higher depends on my convicion level, pullback to support etc. However if I am proven right I will trim as the stocks rises as it rise really amps up my portfolios #’s as its heavily concentrated. That is a rarity as I have really only done this with FB. Otherwise if I have a full position on and trim tranches I sell 1/3 to 1/2 depending on many gauges, fear green oversold levels RSI of markets individual stocks, what I read, what my gut says etc. Being individual investors and being infront of my screens all day I have the opportunity to be more flexible. If we see a FB for instance today hit 66.62 find support at 66.6-67 I added a 1/2 the full tranche rt around 67 .
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 3:03 pm
Some positions are 5% some 2.5% as they are either trades or small positions I want to keep small to see what they do and how they work. If I buy 1/4 a tranche for me thats rt around 2.5-3% of the full 10% I eventually want to own in the main positions. As an example I wanted to buy LULU for a while so I bought some @ 47.82 today a full tranche of what I want to own on this small position and thats it. I am keeping it small so I bough all I wanted here. By small I mean its 3% of my total portfolio.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 3:05 pm
We each have diff sized portfolios, diff amounts of time we set aside to monitor / attend to the portfolio, diff risk appetite, diff % of ones net worth in a portfolio and thus we each make diff moves based on these and other factors making each persons account, moves, tranches look different.
indiasilver

nimsri
March 17, 2014 – 3:09 pm
@eryba1: Are you adding AAPl here
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 3:17 pm
@nimsri: No I am not. Apple has no direction until one is clearly seen up or down. It could be sales, new product or other that gets it moving otherwise there is NO INTEREST in it. Its really acting like dead money in a way. Unless some news appears there is no appetite from investors at the moment. So I want my $ performing for me, SO I have a mid sized position in apple for now. Whats great is we can always ADD when we need to if we see an uptrend forming as for now its surely isnt
nimsri

@eryba1: What do you think of CRM? the stock is down more than 10% in the last couple of weeks.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 3:23 pm
@nimsri: its acting well as good things are expected. trim? Again depends on your cost basis? % it makes up of your acct? need if U have profits to take some here? comfort level ? etc
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 3:25 pm
@kirank: near 15% correction. Its richly valued but needs to find support here and may do so, but as U can see for market up 1.2% for the averages its up just .5% after a near 15% decline so not acting strong = no investor support yet even after its big decline
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 3:26 pm
@kirank: VS lets say FB fell from 72.6 to 66.62 just about 9% pullback and has found support at 66-67 again and is outperforming today after being down 1-2% today in the red now up near 2% green for the day
nimsri
March 17, 2014 – 3:26 pm

eryba1

@Turtle108: invn 10-12% MAX
Turtle108
March 17, 2014 – 4:17 pm
@eryba1: would you let it get that high?
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 4:19 pm
@Turtle108: I trimmed after it had back to back 5-8% up days and got to new all time hi’s, it fell all the way bk to support 50 day moving avg and I added back now its at max % for me on this one.
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 4:20 pm
@Turtle108: now if we saw as I stated today another 5-8% like move higher it rises as a % of my account I would trim some as its volatile and will swing my portfolio around too much as its price increases and thus gets to be too large a % position. I had said ONLY FB I have let get past 12% on occasion but then trim to not let it get out of hand.
Turtle108
March 17, 2014 – 4:20 pm
@eryba1: for someone not necessarily trading but buy and hold, what % of pf would you let it be? (invn)
eryba1
March 17, 2014 – 4:23 pm
@Turtle108: its volatile so 5-7%. Thats me as it moved up and down a lot so the swings can be gyrating to ones portfolio. Just last week low of 20.5 to a hi of 23.3 thats $2.8 or just about a 15% move in one week on no confirmed NEWS. If we had substantiated news maybe let it ride higher but we can just assume then.
Turtle108

It was a productive day. FB found support for now back at 66-67 and finishes strong. The yield on the 10 year is trying to get above its 50 day avg after holding 2.6% yet again. Higher rates is being equated to a stronger economy and business environment. Gold pulled back 14 dollars to 1368. Lets see if it pulls back to prior ceiling / resistance of 1350 at which point I will add to my GDX +/- a few % points. The QQQ bounced off its 50 day avg. Lets look for a follow through day. Hope U had a positive day in the markets as a balanced portfolio did well today.

@eryba1: look at gold creeping back a little – I’m watching silver, if gold were to rally silver might too. we’ll see. they can both easily go the other way . I have a position in SLW, but don’t tell anyone,
INVN is on fire, I thought I had a full position but I have added the past week, and my EMES has been super solid, really on a rise. that’s my story-
eryba1
March 18, 2014 – 11:31 am
@Turtle108: invn- yes. EMES I pout that one on my screen if it EVER pulls back its on fire! Gold yes holding at current levels. I want to add GDX but down 1.5% I want to see if we see further weakness

, but it’s interesting today- SSRI- CDE- PAAS- on Kitco they show the top performing metal stks of the day, http://www.kitco.com , scroll down, there’s a box with top 5 performing metal equities- and those 3 silver stks are on top this minute- it COULD be a good sign – silver stks showing strength- a divergence in the force, so to speak-

@chrismossey: @eryba1: (1) I thought I read once that 2 year old prices have relatively little significance for chart purposes because traders/investors would have had ample opportunity to close out positions over the course of time. (2) I was only noting that in regards to the comment about INVN never having been over $25 in last 5 years, the company has only been public for 2½ yrs. (3) New public companies in emerging industries can often be the biggest winners; also the most volatile, especially if the momentum guys get on board. Some to trade, and some to invest?

@eryba1: why not to wait for the earnings report today on SCTY? Are you more short than bullish on this report?
eryba1
March 18, 2014 – 3:03 pm
@Johan: Neither Just unsure. I really HATE the way earnings plays out if no beat and guide higher or meet and guide higher we see a 10% decline. SO there r safer plays who reported already so not in jeopardy in that sense.
eryba1
March 18, 2014 – 3:09 pm
@Johan: Plus I want to see their #’s and reaction to them. I have said this before I think the QQQ see 94 range before this rise is over or before we see a correction. We had a minor pullback to 88 now unless Russia issues explode again we may see a rise into that QQQ 94 area where I will pull back my bullish horns. Again a working theory and flexibility is the key but things looks good and individual stocks acting quite well 2nd day in a row

Are you at all concerned about that disappearance on insider trading (the article you pushed out earlier today) or is that irrelevant with a commodities-driven ETF? On FB and the recent support around 66-5-67 from a TA I read daily: For my analysis, I will take prior declines like these and project 100% of them from any recent high to identify possible support decisions within a trending market. The first zone that has stood out recently came in at the $65.85-$66.57 area. The second zone came in at $64.67-$65.13. The recent low in Facebook was made at $66.62, which is just a few cents above this first key price support zone. A test of this support was followed by buy signals, suggesting that it is worth placing a bet against this last low. As for the initial upside targets for this trade setup, we would be looking at $74.21, $76.28 and then $82.25. My risk is currently defined below the recent low made at $66.62.
chrismossey
March 19, 2014 – 8:26 am

@erbya1: I may pick up some more VXX today if it falls below 43. You?
eryba1
March 19, 2014 – 9:07 am
@lfnunnally: I got lucky with VXX on Crimea 3 weeks ago. We are not overbought, fear greed gauge looks good, insider buying looks good so I am not going with VXX. I rather hold the cash position I have and look for stocks to buy. Being in the VXX for me has me looking for further declines vs the mindset to look for opportunities to buy pullbacks or up trending stocks.
eryba1
March 19, 2014 – 9:09 am
@lfnunnally: MAYBE just MAYVE if the VIX sees 12 I will look to pull in my bullish horns. I will repeat what I have been saying QQQ 94-5 maybe next after pullback to 88 found support at 50 day avg. I am watching to see if this occurs. However we have said repeatedly this is a stock pickers market and specific names we are holding are performing VERY WELL. That is more important to watch than JUST the averages.

Now GDX hit rt about 28 and pulling bk to 26 lets see fed reaction in gold. I may add more GDX at 25 or under that I sold above 27. As for VXX each one perceives things differently so if U own VXX do U use spare cash to look for buys? how do U act when U have VXX on as a hedge?

@JSmith: someone else has said it well regarding the fed- this from a smart investor- It is widely anticipated that the Fed will continue its tapering program — that the economy is strong enough for the Fed to reduce its bond-buying by another $10 billion per month. So if that doesn’t occur, things may get shaken up. However, the Fed hasn’t sent any recent signals that it is unduly concerned about some of the soft recent economic data, which have been blamed on bad weather. The irony is that the market would probably be disappointed if the Fed weren’t tapering. For a while last year, there was great concern that the advent of tapering and the eventual dismantling of quantitative easing would be the catalyst for a market top. The old saying, “don’t fight the Fed,” has worked extrem

March 19, 2014 – 9:23 am
extremely well, positing that when the Fed begins to tighten it will have a market impact. Of course, tapering of bond-buying isn’t tightening. It is simply a reduction in the level of stimulus — and plenty of cheap money is still being poured into this market. In fact, we are still seeing the impact of the action on a regular basis. The reason we ignore things like a Russian invasion is that there is so much cash out there looking for a place to go. Investors are so desperate to put idle cash to work that they shrug off any negatives. What is driving us is the fear of being left behind in a market that never really corrects, and that will probably make the Fed as irrelevant to the indices as is Vladimir Putin. We might see a momentary jiggle or two,

@JSmith: for now the USA iS FINALLY back on track for 3% + GDP thats a good place to be. Yields are no where near HI and no place top invest / grow ones money. As cody has said many times when U start seeing CD’s at bank’s at 5+% or the yield on the 10 year USA bond at 5% those r places U get competition to many stocks except the hi growth ones. Lets get there 1st we cant even see 1% for most bank savings accts and 3% has been the ceiling on the 10year bond.

Now it has pulled back from near 70 RSI to 50 and yes at 26 it is tempting as We were discussing selling at 27.5. @eryba1: does anything the fed said change your view going forward?
eryba1
March 19, 2014 – 4:34 pm
I am comfortable with this outlook from a wise investor: So things are better, so the Fed can’t keep buying bonds. It doesn’t have to. But it doesn’t matter to the short-term people. All they care about is that interest rates are going higher, and therefore, sell every stock. How many times have we seen this “sell everything” story, only to have the market recover because buyers recognize that there’s not much to the Fed’s statement other than it is re-stating the obvious? I do not believe the Fed has turned hawkish. I just think the Fed is realistic. The funds rate is what I care about, and unless you think that Janet Yellen is totally dissembling when she says that short-rates aren’t going dramatically higher,
eryba1
March 19, 2014 – 4:34 pm
