This Week’s Subscriber Chat Room Archive

Here is the past week’s discussion from the TradingWithCody.com Subscriber Chat Room:

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 9:52 am

@chrismossey: Just when you think that a stock is “going to be under accumulation” its often exactly the time to trim.

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 9:55 am

@Cody: so Cody, if one wants to add more FB, you don’t suggest doing it yet?

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 9:59 am

http://money.cnn.com/data/fear-and-greed/

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 10:00 am

@chrismossey: I always suggest starting with a tranche buy and then being patient for more.

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 10:01 am

Just was saying the psychology of the markets often is upside down.

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 10:01 am

Trader’s Deep Thought of the Day – $DJIA is up exactly 2.5x from 5 yrs ago today. For it to have the same return over the next 5 yrs, $DJIA would be at 40,000.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 10:01 am

@chrismossey: I had a HUGE pats fan by me hates peyton for same reasoning U said. markets down 88 off weak ISM getting very oversold but going lower. Some will think did FED see these #’s in advance if thats an issue at all

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 10:01 am

@Cody: thank you

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 10:01 am

@Cody: when do U start buying amazon near 350 now?

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 10:02 am

gold gld and gdx acting ok

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 10:02 am

@eryba1: Same answer as above, small tranche in AMZN not a bad idea here, but give yourself room.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 10:03 am

@Cody: Yes thats where we ended fri to wait for amazon to find support still none

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 10:05 am

looking to add some amzn under 350 and some cien today

MikeM

February 3, 2014 – 10:07 am

@Cody: I did just that here and added tranche of amzn

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 10:08 am

vix at a higher hi intraday 19.45

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 10:08 am

@MikeM: tranching is key

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 10:18 am

@Cody: u said 15,500 on the dow would make for a good place to perhaps start buying and we just about there.

Golfcar101

February 3, 2014 – 10:20 am

these 3d printing stocks falling hard every tranche greeted with more downside

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 10:21 am

@Golfcar101: That’s the patience part. Let them come down and stabilize before adding next tranche.

Golfcar101

February 3, 2014 – 10:22 am

thanks cody

Golfcar101

February 3, 2014 – 10:23 am

how`s the wife and new baby doing?

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 10:26 am

vix and trin getting jumpy to the upside and fear greed index sees 16 so far a # I have not seen since 2013 and was a good time to add a tranche in many names

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 10:28 am

@Golfcar101: great, thanks.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 10:35 am

This # is at 15, its just one reading but it is a reading of the pessimism out therehttp://money.cnn.com/data/fear-and-greed/. I am adding to amazon and Cien

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 10:36 am

@eryba1: Do you know anybody scared much less panicking here?

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 10:36 am

Seems too early still for me.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 10:38 am

@Cody: yes as a whole vs individuals, markets down. U asked for 15,500 when we were 16,500 for a bounce perhaps not looking a gift horse in the mouth as I like the green on my scene stocks lnkd Fb aapl, waited for amazon further decline from fri close and we are seeing it, it was on my shopping list so I want to pick it up

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 10:41 am

@Cody: i was had almost NO stock left before I went away so I started adding a tranche here or there and the action has been positive S&P now down 4.5% YTD and our stocks have been doing well. We could see a pretty good bounce where I will sell some, watching for it.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 10:44 am

@Cody: when U see stocks down 10-20% and the dow now down 7% U were looking for a 5-10% decline in late jan early FEB and here it is, I ma in no way saying this is THE bottom but for me I like the $$ I am seeing and even green in others while market is down 160 today and now small bounce to – 119

rzepeda

February 3, 2014 – 10:45 am

•CIEN – Ciena Corp – Downgraded to a Sell – Company Analysis and ASR Ranking…Alpha Street Research — Anyone know these guys (ASR)?

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 10:46 am

@rzepeda: never heard of them. CIEN backlog was up nicely and ordre in the pipeline and T and VS says cap ex to be BIG like last year no decline small raise and they are nice % of CIEN business

lfnunnally

February 3, 2014 – 10:52 am

I decided to take a dip again here as I was 100% cash. Bought tranches of AAPL,AMZN,CIEN,FB,TQNT,XONE

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 11:14 am

@eryba1: Are you trenching into more cien?

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 11:17 am

I missed the early news today? What is behind the serious down day today?

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 11:22 am

We are seeing panic clearly this decline today is pushing things in that direction dow down 205+ at lows today so far Vix at 20.27, fera greed index at 15, gold up nearly 19

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 11:23 am

@eryba1: cien at the low end of its channel down near the 200 day – are you adding?

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 11:25 am

@lfnunnally: after a7% decline in the down and 5% in the S&P ytd these may see end up as good entry points.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 11:27 am

@chrismossey: yes I added some common shares today in cien

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 11:29 am

lets look at individual names for strength. Down was down 200+ yets FB, TSLA twtr jnpr in the green, lnkd was hit hard previously but finding support? aapl 10% decline has found buyers or sells are all done? lets see how we proceed from here at very oversold levels but fear trumps evrything as prices can go lower than anyone thinks.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 11:29 am

gld and gdx acting well as the hedges they are.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 11:32 am

http://tickersense.typepad.com/ticker_sense/ just 20% bulls And so far we’ve only got 68 new lows on the NYSE. good contrary indicators and fear reading at 15

Jeffhok1970

February 3, 2014 – 11:42 am

what do you think? One more leg down today?

rkumar

February 3, 2014 – 11:46 am

guys and gals,

rkumar

February 3, 2014 – 11:47 am

last year was a huge rally..ism numbers very weak…let mkt come in–jobs number Friday will be weak

rkumar

February 3, 2014 – 11:47 am

patience

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 11:48 am

@rkumar: Agree with patience

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 11:48 am

http://youtu.be/YK9ahstmbWs

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 11:49 am

@rkumar: yes people selling ahead of jobs # fearing it will be terrible, Off fed just added 10B to reduce stimulus, what did they see or know to take it from 75 to 65? weak gov data for weeks now if U add past jobs #

rkumar

February 3, 2014 – 11:51 am

guys we had a huge rally last week–I learned a long time ago=people sell when they have to not when they want to

rkumar

February 3, 2014 – 11:51 am

last year

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 11:52 am

@rkumar: yes that was the right thing to do, hindsight is always 20/20. sell rips buy dips, need to find some support for markets not here yet at lows of the day

rkumar

February 3, 2014 – 11:52 am

agreed

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 11:55 am

amzn looking like it is getting a bit of support at 347/348 area.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 11:58 am

@chrismossey: kind of, fear gauge at 14, never seen it that low myself

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 11:59 am

yes, I saw that.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 12:00 pm

what is incredible is the stocks in the green as we are now down 230 on the dow S%P down 5.5% ytd.

carl

February 3, 2014 – 12:02 pm

@cody ssys to decline this year: eekingalpha.com/article/1988701-why-stratasys-valuation-bubble-will-pop-in-2014?source=email_rt_article_readmore

carl

February 3, 2014 – 12:02 pm

@cody Does this make any sense to you?

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 12:03 pm

wait for europe to close as we are now down 250+ as europe closes and sell orders come in

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 12:03 pm

surprised gold isnt up more than $19 today

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 12:04 pm

@carl: fear of recession and horrible jobs # fri and that would make bk to bk bad jobs # = pause in usa GDP

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 12:06 pm

dow down 1130 points from its hi 7%

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 12:08 pm

@chrismossey: now gauge is at 13 and YES amazon some support at 346-350 for now. Vis getting overbought up another 10% . Baltic dry index down to 1093 from 235 a few weeks ago down a bit today but still bleeding everyday

carl

February 3, 2014 – 12:10 pm

@cody If we have a nice profit in (e.g.) FB does it make sense to trim some now or simply wait out the decline?

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 12:18 pm

@carl: ofcourse if U R ever concerned trim. Cody sent out an e-mail last week he was trimming at 62

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 12:19 pm

10 year down 2.3% back to 2.6% a few weeks ago worry over going above 3%

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 12:21 pm

TRIN is near 3, super hi fear, more of this and the fed will start QE4

jakef1111

February 3, 2014 – 12:23 pm

Man this is ugly

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 12:24 pm

@chrismossey: U wanted in on CMG. down 2.25% tiday

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 12:24 pm

@jakef1111: corrections are never pretty

jakef1111

February 3, 2014 – 12:34 pm

Maybe its the washout factor

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 12:35 pm

@jakef1111: sure feels like it some gauges pointing to that fear VERY hi on many fronts pendulum swings farther on either end.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 12:40 pm

anyone trimming or buying of so which names?

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 12:49 pm

BA looks like a BUY here, SBUX as well so many things just dumped

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 1:08 pm

@eryba1: looking at CMG and nflx

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 1:09 pm

@chrismossey: market no support yet tanking left and right soon margin desks will get active

jakef1111

February 3, 2014 – 1:09 pm

Probably shoulda some vix and some puts huh…. Cody said it would be hard to buy

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 1:10 pm

@jakef1111: VXX overbought, trin is up 140% today feat off the charts hi rt now

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 1:11 pm

@eryba1: any sense of money flow, where is the money going? The 10yr at 2.6 is not a good place.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 1:13 pm

@chrismossey: today NOTHING is SAFE, not even the safe go to stocks BMY, PG etc hi yield stocks or other all down 2-3%

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 1:13 pm

Look at the daily chart on Akamai. There is opportunity in that chart ahead of earnings.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 1:15 pm

@chrismossey: we all know the 50/50 on earnings reports and reaction. if stocks end at lows unless HUGE beat and huge guide higher may not be enough. Chart shows broke 50 day avg today on hi volume

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 1:15 pm

CRM could get interesting under 57.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 1:16 pm

@chrismossey: at this point lets find SOME support somewhere no dip buyers to be found oversold or not conditions in spades.

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 1:18 pm

agreed.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 1:19 pm

@chrismossey: this is as UGLY as yesterdays superbowl

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 1:21 pm

@chrismossey: recession and horrible Jobs # trying to be priced in here. I am thinking or trimming some gold and adding to some decliners like GOOG down near 4% and have more cash on hand as bounce should be quite strong if we see dow down 300+ today

rzepeda

February 3, 2014 – 1:26 pm

Anyone have thoughts on any emerging market plays?

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 1:27 pm

@rzepeda: seeing the reason this decline is because of emerging markets I would stick with great companies here who have some exposure there.

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 1:28 pm

@eryba1: you bet it is. Goog is getting interesting. I am going to wait for 1100.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 1:47 pm

@chrismossey: that # may be here later today or tomorrow, will c. I am getting concerned the margin hour is soon to come

Jeffhok1970

February 3, 2014 – 1:48 pm

@eryba1: by margin hour you mean when the margin calls start and the selloff gets real exciting?

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 1:49 pm

@Jeffhok1970: yes, time to ante up for margin accounts of margin clerks will sell asap and take us down further woosh like if this non woosh like 1200 pt decline in the down since jan is not enough

gpo344

February 3, 2014 – 1:49 pm

I have such a conflict between using stops and Investors Business Daily, and getting out and staying out. Marty Zweig always said to use stops. I have neglected that advice and it has cost me. I sold some goog this morning and some others like ba and some mmm. Yet I bought some pg and aapl. Aapl finally looks good in a weak market. I sure hope they are buying back their shares hand over fist.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 1:51 pm

it feels CRAZY but I want to buy some and I am quite concerned recession, fridays Jobs # we are vert oversold and getting further so rubber band stretching quite far thus no further buys today. Nearing that down 300 level vix up 15% trin up 173% these are BIG #’s

carl

February 3, 2014 – 1:51 pm

It’s Pyeton’s fault.

carl

February 3, 2014 – 1:51 pm

OK, Payton

kirank

February 3, 2014 – 1:53 pm

eryba1 – “seeing the reason this decline is because of emerging markets I would stick with great companies here who have some exposure there” – Do you have specific companies in mind?\

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 1:53 pm

@kirank: recent earnings winners GOOG, NFLX, CMG, FB to name a few

kirank

February 3, 2014 – 1:54 pm

@eryba1 – “seeing the reason this decline is because of emerging markets I would stick with great companies here who have some exposure there” – do you have specific companies in mind?

kirank

February 3, 2014 – 1:54 pm

Thanks

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 1:54 pm

@kirank: JNPR, NOW, CAT.

rkumar

February 3, 2014 – 2:02 pm

let the mkt price in a bad jobs number friday

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 2:03 pm

@rkumar: thats what it is doing, Plus china slowdown, retail sales slowing = usa overall recession

Jeffhok1970

February 3, 2014 – 2:06 pm

what are bit coins doing today?

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 2:07 pm

i am holding my nose and adding some goog, cien, aapl, fb, amzn

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 2:14 pm

again small positions being added as we are wildly oversold knowing fear can take us lower. XONE added as new position as well.

rkumar

February 3, 2014 – 2:33 pm

qqq is down 4 p

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 2:46 pm

amazingly apple is holding – is this the bottom.

Jeffhok1970

February 3, 2014 – 2:53 pm

think we can we expect some short covering in the last hour?

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 3:09 pm

added, amba, yelp, cien, goog, appl, amazon

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 3:10 pm

This 100 point down day in the $NASDAQ is how fear starts to build into panic. Wouldn’t bet on a bottom here, but I’m going to put a little money to work. Details to come.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 3:26 pm

@chrismossey: lets see the last 30 min and U see margin selling took affect woosh down to – 320 on down. Lets watch whats holding AMZN 340 now 344 lnkd in the green twtr still 1% in the green aapl goog holding 11355-1137 its horrific out there and so oversold but doesnt matter . is fear guage broken? its tuck at 13 for -250 to – 320 on dow

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 3:29 pm

@Cody: I stepped out to get kids from blzzard condition in school Naz was down 113 ! WOW!!

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 3:34 pm

http://tradingwithcody.com/2014/02/03/trade-alert-small-tranche-buy-of-xone/

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 3:40 pm

@Cody: I was thinking the same added it to my portfolio at 43 handle

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 3:47 pm

Contra hour be nasty. Panic to ensue next time the market drops 2%. Bulls should hope we get another whoosh down day like today sooner rather later.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 3:53 pm

it is panicky for sure and tom morning up open strong gap up may be sold as people put in orders tonight after seeing todays pounding. trin vix fear #’s off the charts panic we have not seen in some time. market seems to want to close at the lows as Asia declines to come fear weigh.

MikeM

February 3, 2014 – 3:54 pm

@eryba1: I did the samee. Stepped away for a while to cut and split some firewood and came back and 3 of my 4 limit orders on the lowball side executed. Wow is right

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 3:56 pm

@MikeM: this is powerful and day after day is relentless, feels like it wont stop and has been happening since first trading day of the new year. trin up 185% vix new closing hi 21+ we will see internal data later 90% of volume to the downside would not surprise me, this is a powerful correction for now.

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 3:58 pm

my exone filled – I had some low ***** still not filled. Will try again tomorrow.

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 3:59 pm

@eryba1: I got my cmg. Yo need to go find one and try it.

Jeffhok1970

February 3, 2014 – 4:00 pm

@chrismossey: cmg food = yummy

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 4:01 pm

@chrismossey: hit 535 now at 544 big ranges today. BIG decline day. I need to get on the treadmill to work off some of yesterdays wings and food and todays investing tension.

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 4:02 pm

I went to the gym midday because of the stress.

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 4:02 pm

@Jeffhok1970: By NYC mexican food standards, $CMG food ain’t bad. By any respectable New Mexican food lover standards, Chipotle Mexican Grill sucks!

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 4:03 pm

@chrismossey: midday, I would be more stressed looking how the decline had further to go vs in front of a screen and maybe picking up stocks as I did leaving more room for tomorrow if we dont see some bounce

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 4:04 pm

@Cody: that is harsh – it is not about mexican it is about fresh and more healthy than other fast food. Regardless – many in this country like it. Did you know Cramer opened a Mexican restaurant?

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 4:06 pm

@chrismossey: Cramer opening a Mexican food restaurant would be like me opening an Oysters-Only joint. hoohah.

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 4:09 pm

yeah – he did – they had pictures on CNBC. I was in shock. On another note, when you want seafood, I will ship it to you from Newport RI. Nothing fresher man. If I could get you one of my restaurants coal fired pizza’s in a fresh mode I would send that as well.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 4:09 pm

@chrismossey: yes harsh indeed

But what do U want from someone from NEW MEXICO ??

who has access to authentic mexican fare as frequently as he wants.

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 4:10 pm

yeah, kind of like going to Kansas city and ordering lobster.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 4:10 pm

@chrismossey: exactly!!!!

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 4:11 pm

@eryba1: so yelp, cien, xone, lnkd, amba, cmg all filled. Goog, appl and amzn did not so at some point they stabilized a bit.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 4:12 pm

today was scary OS much I sweat I think the CNN fear gauge meter BROKE!! It was 13 at dow down 275 and the same at -325 and most indicies closed near the lows. Breadth probably was better than many would think as some stocks didnt see hurrendous declines like TQNT, AAPL, TWTR, LNKD, JNPR

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 4:13 pm

@chrismossey: yes some productive action in a mindless dump baby with bathwater scenario. TRIN up 188% NUTS

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 4:14 pm

VIX new higher hi 21.25 up another 15.6% oscilaltor should see – 225 range, but these are just bells and whistles fear trumps all and we all know we can go lower. leave dry powder by your side.

jakef1111

February 3, 2014 – 4:23 pm

@cody any thoughts on SZYM and that type of space

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 4:35 pm

That was a WIld day and has been a wild 2014. As chris mentioned last week its more a trading environment that long term investing. We can see that is a good idea for now to sell rips and buy dips in tranches style or wait for upside trends to emerge in better acting stocks and market leaders. 2013 rewarded the buy and hold approach even if we did see 10-20% decline even in stocks like FB. Lets be vigilant and see where we find some support and what sparks an oversold rally that should be quite strong when it begins but from what levels we do not know. lets watch to see what stocks STOP going down with the market. today it was a few who had corrected but did not act weak in an UGLY tape LNKD, AAPL, TWTR,ZNGA, to name a few.

chrismossey

February 3, 2014 – 4:51 pm

@eryba1: amba has a solid chart, take a look.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 5:18 pm

@chrismossey: testing 28-3 for nearly the 4th time, the more times it hits the support the more time it can break it, in this case to the downside same would apply to the upside. However in this market nothing has much support until it does. I have amba on my screen and added codys INVN and jdsu as well. for now looking at stocks that for NOW seems to have some support after their corrections or stronger earnings that have done better than the amrket on a vicious day like today. Those would be AAPL, LNKD, ZNGA, FB

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 6:34 pm

@eryba1: One of the best contrarian traders I ever knew used the $TRIN when it’d go extreme. Good point out.

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 6:35 pm

@jakef1111: $SZYM Sales Growth (year/est) 54.60% 201.30% -4.80% 273.10%

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 6:36 pm

And Year Ago EPS -0.40 -0.43 -1.37 -1.66

Cody

February 3, 2014 – 6:36 pm

Looks risky esp at 52 week highs, FWIW.

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 9:21 pm

If anyone here likes using the FB app u MUST download

eryba1

February 3, 2014 – 9:25 pm

@cody thanks for the insight seems like an interesting tech… I have a friend who works at a co called cool planet making carbon neg gas… Trying to research the space a little with very little time.. I havnt invested at all yet just trying to keep n eye out

jakef1111

February 3, 2014 – 11:14 pm

@Cody: Szym current yr sales growth -4.8% next yr 273% looks interesting but i dont understand the huge jump maybe they scale their bizz and increase margins…

Zynga upgraded at UBS FEB 04, 2014 | 7:39 AM EST ZNGA upgraded to Buy from Neutral, UBS said. Core operations stabilized under new management and cost cutting in motion. $6 price target.

n addition to that TRIN reading, the CNNMoney Fear and Greed Index is now at 13. The lowest was around 10, at the October 2011 lows. On top of this, Monday saw 90% of the volume come on the downside for both the NYSE and the Nasdaq — something we haven’t seen since the low in October 2012.

Cramer starting to feel as I do about shopping malls and confirmation of what Starbucks CEO has been saying etc: Yep, the mall has got a few strikes against it: Parking may be inconvenient, you may not want to wait at a register, you may not be getting the lowest prices and you probably want the stuff delivered to your house anyway. You just might not have wanted to switch because you are a mall user by force of habit. However, if the weather has taken you out of the mall loop and you still need stuff, although not at that red-hot minute, then Birchbox and Amazon Prime are for you. You might never go back to your old ways.

chrismossey

February 4, 2014 – 8:16 am

People will go shop for what they really want though. Apple stores, Michael Korrs, chipolte, CVS, whole foods etc. Trends are changing fast. Those companies that have cool products, build loyalty, know their customers trends, reach them with timely relevant offers will win. The commodity type stores are broken and will go away.

facebooks PAPER app launched yesterday is BETTER in some ways than their old app: http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2014/02/04/facebook-paper-hands-on/5199111/

chrismossey

For this – a stock to look at it Akamai. They speed ecommerce and Cody’s picks don’t necessarily play directly on the backbone of ecommerc, they support ecommerce but don’t supply the shared platform used for commerce like akamai.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 8:19 am

@chrismossey: yes, which is what SBUX ceo is saying, U go directly to what U want then leave at the mall, U go into the SBUX get your java then leave, or get your JAVA swing by apple then leave. They see anew product and test it out, can go home order it online, customize it etc etc if the store is too busy.

chrismossey

February 4, 2014 – 8:21 am

So follow that – how does one monetize that. Smaller demo type stores for the feel and touch experience and then order on line? Who knows right, it is a hard problem to fix. You do run the risk of people leaving and then changing their mind.

chrismossey

February 4, 2014 – 8:24 am

@eryba1: I was thinking about apple a bit last night and how to play it both short term and long term. If we find stabilization here it is going to be very susceptible to spikes from the product rumor mill which is june and sooner in time frame. It might be an a stock we could overweight a bit for further correction protection.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 8:27 am

@chrismossey: did U see the link I sent last night about the iwatch look style feel possibility? It could JUMP anytime on ichan, buyback, other its just hated so any news will have shorts or buyers interested to flee or add. This market wants growth AND profits something APPLE and AMZN did not show both of

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 8:29 am

For now we are looking short term a Pretty big bounce to then sell some if you bought yesterday and this suspect positive open HOLDS, many wanted another 100 point slide final washout. Lets see if we bounce to how hi and then start to trim and wait to see what happens, as it doesnt seem the issues outstanding that caused this correction have been rectified.

chrismossey

February 4, 2014 – 8:29 am

sorry I did not. I left early to meet friends for drinks in this nice 82 degree evening weather. My apologies.

Not a bad idea to sell some calls out in march against long positions that you do not want to sell anyway to earn income during the correction.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 8:34 am

@chrismossey: if U dare look at NYC weather more snow all week they say tues night sunday etc etc, try to come back when its all melted

chrismossey

February 4, 2014 – 8:35 am

@eryba1: Not coming back to 3/1 my friend and then heading to Bermuda for meetings the following week. So March 10 or so will be when life in the Northeast resumes in earnest.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 8:35 am

@chrismossey: sounds like a golden parachute of a plan!

chrismossey

February 4, 2014 – 8:39 am

In the mean time lets make some money in this market!

chrismossey

February 4, 2014 – 8:39 am

I need to pay for it all.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 8:39 am

@chrismossey: i know what u mean!!!

Cody

February 4, 2014 – 8:41 am

Not sure it matters how the mkt opens today. $DJIA $SPY investors and momo traders still need a panic washout before I get aggressive.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 8:43 am

markets overshoot to the up and downside, lets see if we bounce to what levels and where our buys yesterday take us to. The really frigid weather has had an affect on car sales, home buying, retail, the market is trying to price in a dip in gdp and a weak Jobs #. Has it discounted too much? We wont know until we see the #. KORS says retail and its sales are VERY strong this morning stock is up 20% this morning. Its very select, people spending on amazon rev were up 20%, goog, FB, KORS, $ is moving and finding where to be used best by consumers and businesses.

Cody

February 4, 2014 – 8:44 am

Beautiful 6″ of snow fall overnight here in Alto, NM, elevation 7400′ at my house. No complaints about that from us. Ski Apache, elevation 11,700′ is probably going to be awesome for the next few days.

chrismossey

February 4, 2014 – 8:44 am

@Cody: what are your thoughts on twtr after the bell? Reason for asking – I have a feb22 – 60/75 call spread that is pretty profitable at the moment and I am contemplating any action I should take ahead of earnings. Hold / roll it out / take it off / outright straddle. – Just curios what you are thinking for their report.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 8:44 am

trends are changing , habits, mobile, social, cloud are doing best from NFLX, CMG, NOW, FFIV, JNPR we need to understand this and invest in the new leaders of this economy as spending habits morph from old to new ways.

carl

February 4, 2014 – 8:45 am

I am a skier and love snow. I also love to hear others complain about it.

Cody

February 4, 2014 – 8:46 am

@chrismossey: After $FB’s blowout qtr, $TWTR will be hard pressed to impress tonite. Feet to fire, I’m more bearish than bullish on $TWTR for tomorrow’s action.

chrismossey

February 4, 2014 – 8:47 am

@Cody: That is my gut instinct as well. Feet to fire – trade is coming off into strength this morning.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 8:47 am

@Cody: @carl: only complaint is not being ON the slopes and trying to dig your car from under a slope of heavy thick dense snow and driving 3 kids to school at 7:30am when the streets are rock hard with frozen H2o beneath 1-2″ thick

Cody

February 4, 2014 – 8:47 am

U don’t have to remove it all…u know me, always trying to have our cake and eat it too…maybe take profits on 3/4 or 2/3 or something?

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 8:48 am

@Cody: unless My mind has frozen over from clearinga dish of snow 4 times and shoveling house 6, what were your thoughts on the amazon QTR?

Cody

February 4, 2014 – 8:48 am

@eryba1: I admit to not being a fan of the snow in NYC. I’m just saying, you won’t believe the view in the pic, I’ll take in a few mins as the sun rises.

Cody

February 4, 2014 – 8:48 am

@chrismossey: U don’t have to remove it all…u know me, always trying to have our cake and eat it too…maybe take profits on 3/4 or 2/3 or something?

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 8:49 am

@Cody: go ahead make us jealous

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 8:50 am

@Cody: snow in NYC soon turns to black masses as millions start to move about.

Cody

February 4, 2014 – 8:50 am

@eryba1: Not black, but a yellowish gray of dog piss and soot.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 8:50 am

black masses of dirty snow is not pretty and slushy 5″ deep corners U fall into.

chrismossey

February 4, 2014 – 8:51 am

@Cody: thank you – good advice. 22 contracts each way so I can easily bring it down to about 6 and still have the benefit of good action. Snow in NYC is sickly in 24 hours.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 8:52 am

@Cody: I think this market will CHEER higher rates on the 10yr from now on. on the verge of breaking 3% yield to the upside S&P was 1848 now on the verge of breaking 2.5 on the downside its at 1740

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 8:56 am

@Cody: @chrismossey: in alta its gorgeous and picturesque in NYC its nice for 24 hrs then gets GROSS real fast.

chrismossey

February 4, 2014 – 8:56 am

@Cody: I recall your original thoughts on akamai in the 100 stock for the app revolution. Might have the name wrong but am curious if you have consider this segment of technology services recently. they seem to be front and center in this larger shift to ecommerce vs brick and mortar.

Cody

February 4, 2014 – 8:57 am

@chrismossey: Apple and Google and others are building out competing networks and that might eventually hurt AKAM, but I still like the company long-term

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 8:58 am

@Cody: I know goog is building out its own network, Apple is doing the same? I have not heard of that.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 9:00 am

@Cody: is this a prerequisite to apple TV?

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 9:01 am

Why would apple need its own bandwidth? what r u thoughts? It needs content! should have bought NFLX under 100

Cody

February 4, 2014 – 9:04 am

Here’s teh view from my office as the sun rises. http://www.scutify.com/profiles/leader.aspx?q=codywillard&s=52f0f327d36feb119cebf039

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 9:05 am

@Cody: like christmas morning on the farm

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 9:05 am

By the way can we POST pict here on TWC?

Cody

February 4, 2014 – 9:05 am

Yup

Cody

February 4, 2014 – 9:05 am

I can but it’s not as easy as doing it on the Scutify app.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 9:06 am

@Cody: a few have asked for pict and other from events , social etc wanted to share so wondering how we can do that in this TWC community

Cody

February 4, 2014 – 9:07 am

I’m sure I can find a plugin for the site that would let us do that.

Cody

February 4, 2014 – 9:07 am

Let me work on it.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 9:07 am

bk to apple for a second, why do U think it wants this fiber? bandwidth?

Cody

February 4, 2014 – 9:08 am

@eryba1: Look ten years out and you can see that $AAPL will need much more bandwidth to deliver the future of the apple ecosystem, no?

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 9:10 am

sure growth is growth, itunes apps to deliver faster bigger memory apps, more detail super HD or 4D that I get 10 years from now yes, but today how does apple turn itunes store into social which is growing like mad and itunes has So many users.

chrismossey

February 4, 2014 – 9:30 am

@eryba1: liking the two days of upward pressure bias on apple.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 9:31 am

upward? : ) stabilization perhaps

chrismossey

February 4, 2014 – 9:32 am

@eryba1: yes, could have chosen my words better.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 9:32 am

joe.evicel

February 4, 2014 – 9:52 am

@Olivepetunia: haha I am often in that same boat

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 9:53 am

@Olivepetunia: it was supposed to read “RED” MANY wanted the market to open of woosh down 100 points to flush out any sellers at the open from orders placed last night from people seeing a d down 325 close

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 9:54 am

instead market opeened in the green 40+ then went red -10+ and now buyers / traders stepping into to very oversold levels. But we need a SPARK to buy, jobs # not that bad slect tech still great etc otherwise it will just be a good oversold bounce.

carl

February 4, 2014 – 9:56 am

@eryba1 I had a previous life that was like that. Move to Lake Placid and work from your home. We have schools here. Cody will say something similar.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 9:58 am

@carl: let the stock price be our guide after its 10% plus decline

chrismossey

February 4, 2014 – 9:58 am

@Cody: perhaps to get our stocks to a high note we need to add some canibus stocks!

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 9:59 am

life that was like that? rat race

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 10:02 am

@chrismossey: was just going to post about same topic- look at charts for PHOT CBIS- http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=CBIS&t=6m&l=on&z=l&q=l&c=phot

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 10:07 am

@chrismossey: MDBX

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 10:07 am

medical marijuana

joe.evicel

February 4, 2014 – 10:07 am

@chrismossey: I bought into $phot a few weeks ago for a small position at $.19 but got out yesterday at $.34. Very risky, and had to watch it closely. Also bought a bit of $GWPH which was less risky

joe.evicel

February 4, 2014 – 10:09 am

@Turtle108: $phot will be potentially diluting shares on the 7th so be careful

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 10:10 am

@joe.evicel: thanks for that- appreciate it-

chrismossey

February 4, 2014 – 10:10 am

Well I have missed the boat on this. We could treat these like our bankruptcy plays. These might better bets to go higher.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 10:11 am

@chrismossey: if anyone wants they can go to hbo.com and see the segment from realsports on medical marijuana GREAT piece. very lucrative yet VERY VERY SCARY, banks wont take their $, they need to wash the $$ literally because of the smell and danger, robberies because HUGE cash business.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 10:26 am

Oil making a W bottom in the form of ETF USO? seems markets are TRYING to find some footing but no real data to work off. Instead individual names doing well off earnings or upgrades like YUM, KORS, ZNGA

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 10:31 am

anyone selling or buying today?

drefleury

February 4, 2014 – 10:37 am

@chrismossey: When you go to Bermuda, check out my buddy Odilio’s restaurants… “Flying Fish,” “The Dining Room” (in the Gibbs Hill Lighthouse in Southampton), and Rustica for some nice Italian home-cooking. He’s a dear friend, his seafood is super fresh since most of it was shot right outside the reef that day. Tell him Dre’ sent you.

drefleury

February 4, 2014 – 10:39 am

Pick up some 3D printing stocks at these levels? DDD, etc?

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 10:40 am

@drefleury: I was buying Xone yesterday after its near 9% decline on monday alone and down from 67.5. nice entry points for a tarnche

drefleury

February 4, 2014 – 10:41 am

@eryba1: Agreed, I followed Cody into the XONE yesterday and hope it will blend out some previous purchases.

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 10:45 am

@eryba1: added a tiny bit to GDXJ- I still think this is the trade to make. IF gold takes off at all, the good mrs will fly.

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 10:46 am

should say jrs.

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 10:48 am

look at FURX today- holy cow!

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 10:48 am

@Turtle108: For now we need to look for the stocks that will bounce the best and see if the bounce turns into something better = a bottom, but alas everyone will need to say then a RETEST is needed a better bottom internally breadth, advance decline, less new lows etc. For now this is just a bounce.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 10:49 am

@Turtle108: for every furx I can show U 100 stocks down 90% biotech is hit or miss. Misery or money maker a roll of the dice.

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 10:49 am

@eryba1: agree, but maybe the gold stks have already bottomed and retested and retested the retest.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 10:51 am

@Turtle108: gold seems to have moved as with stocks in line with the rise of the 10yr yield to nearly 3% a few weeks ago. Since then gold holding its own, stock clobbered. The higher yields get the more inflation down the road to be controlled by higher rates gold could rise.

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 10:52 am

@eryba1: yes, you’re right about that too- I have been holding GILD for awhile, large biotech with incredible pipeline of drugs coming- especially to fight HepC, which some say is a plague among boomers.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 10:53 am

@Turtle108: gild stock and chart is a thing of beauty! good name to have

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 11:00 am

@Turtle108: My family was once invested in a pharma drug, it cost us dearly for not taking profits and adding more and more= too eggs in one basket analogy and it was a nightmare

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 11:01 am

@eryba1: yeah, we all have those kind of bummers. I “think” GILD is just getting started- I have a nice position, won’t be adding, and also have stops. But it has been very strong thru all the corrections-

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 11:03 am

@eryba1: back to FURX- @bigoptions on Scutify identified unusual option activity in FURX at the end of Jan, and now this huge move- his stuff is interesting to follow-

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 11:03 am

@eryba1: just FYI, and of course, FWIW.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 11:03 am

@Turtle108: yes the chart is text book! great pickup on your part. bummers- is an understatement I can smile now but back then

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 11:04 am

@Turtle108: nice call on his side! one to follow perhaps on the app. Do U have it on your mobile device to follow his posts?

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 11:07 am

@eryba1: no, I don’t, but I will now that you mention it- I am finding his info pretty interesting- just hard to buy on that type of call, well, for me- I have asked him to keep his eye open for unusual activity in metal stks- he says he will find them thru his screens if any do occur- maybe after following him for awhile I’ll get more comfortable, but it seems it is more gambling than investing- and well, I am sure you know about that…….

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 11:09 am

there’s a small jr I really like- MDW- take a look- would like to know your thoughts, if any – fundamentally, they are a pretty solid co- I have been following them for a few yrs-

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 11:10 am

@Turtle108: yes let him work up a track report and never go all in.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 11:10 am

mdw- midway gold?

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 11:12 am

@Turtle108: yes I know what U mean gambling by options data mining etc When accounts rise over time with hard work, day to day nose to the grind stone its hard to invest into something U know nothing about. The sensation of a loss is MUCH more painful than the joy of making $$

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 11:17 am

@eryba1: yes- Midway- in mining friendly Nevada-

Jeffhok1970

February 4, 2014 – 11:18 am

msft did not bounce much after the ceo announcement. I have some APR calls as recommended by Cody. Thinking of selling them here. Anyone have an opinion?

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 11:19 am

@Turtle108: 5 yr hi 2.8, uptrending now. This is why I am more comfortable with the GDX a basket of gold miners vs just one stock.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 11:20 am

@Jeffhok1970: msft looks fine rt now chart wise, earnings were GOOD.

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 11:21 am

@eryba1: so true- I would like it if he would find a stk I already know and understand, then it might be more meaningful- I’m watching for his calls and maybe one day his and my ideas will match-

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 11:23 am

@Turtle108: codys background is tech based- so this is his forte, yes not diversified in the sense of metals, industrials, energy, financials, tech type of a portfolio but he does what he knows best. Its up to us to see if we want to add what he is adding, to short what he is shorting. decisions we each know whats best for our own portfolios, time frame, risk tolerance etc etc

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 11:25 am

@eryba1: agree- hope you will have some GDXJ also- I study this stuff, go to resource shows, I get to know some of these cos and their people- MDW is one I am comfortable with- I only have a few individual miners- I prefer the royalty cos as the way to go, let the smart guys pick for me- really like FNV- SLW-

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 11:33 am

@rkumar: posted this morning upgrade target $6

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 11:34 am

@rzepeda: I think some of the majors are in trouble- they don’t have enough reserves and now have to buy the smaller guys- also, some of NEM mines are in unfriendly locations. “Newmont is likely to remain under pressure. The company’s cost and production guidance is not reassuring. The situation in Indonesia, where government imposed heavy taxes on copper concentrate exports, ads to the uncertainty.”

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 11:37 am

@eryba1: just FYI, I am following Cody’s tech picks very closely, and building a nice pf with them- have held some for many years, i.e AAPL. I do have a slightly balanced pf, with my largest positions being income stks, mlp’s, and energy-

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 11:43 am

@Turtle108: yes diff age require a diff balance and names in your acct.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 11:43 am

so far for today–the put/call ratio is 138%. If it stays here it would be the highest since the October low.

Jeffhok1970

February 4, 2014 – 11:48 am

@eryba1: i noticed the p/c ratio rising too. thought it bullish.

eryba1

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 11:50 am

@Jeffhok1970: its so hi too many bears, too much pessimism, fear greed gauge at 13 yesterday, today 15 TOO LOW, oversold, but we can always get further this is emotions at play, dumping of good and bad stocks.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 12:25 pm

Baltic dry index down again from 2337 a few weeks back to 1084 down 8 today a near 60% decline so far. past few days smaller and smaller declines yet still no bounce in sight.

Jeffhok1970

February 4, 2014 – 12:26 pm

Anyone adding puts on IEF or buying TBT? Anyone making interest rate plays here?

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 12:30 pm

@Jeffhok1970: for me the interest play is GOLD, higher rates = better economy = more inflation vs deflation and thus Gold and gld and gdx, but for now from these oversold levels, too hi a level of bears and the like a, I am looking for more of a bounce first.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 12:36 pm

jahmon

February 4, 2014 – 12:48 pm

I’ve lost money on every Cody IEF put unfortunately so gunshy

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 12:52 pm

@jahmon: was it a timing issue or just the IEF itself?

rkumar

February 4, 2014 – 12:57 pm

sure feels like fb is new mkt leader??zuckerberg best ceo in the business>>???

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 12:57 pm

@rkumar: yes, have U tried their new PAPER app, VERY good rich media, cody e-mail now to all on this vs TWTR and limited 140 non rich media format.

rkumar

February 4, 2014 – 12:58 pm

its a horseman –fb –boooyyyaaahhhhhhh

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 1:00 pm

@rkumar: FB, GOOG clear leaders, YELP, SCTY strong social and solar themes. AAPL and AMZN need to prove themselves. We know rev up 20% = people shopping like mad there and not retail malls, but they are spending wildly too to get to be the biggest and go to name for all shopping online.

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 1:41 pm

do you guys follow BIDU at all? it has corrected pretty far, thinking of getting back in with a small position- I think Instagram will monetize with ads-

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 1:42 pm

@Turtle108: bidu seems to be bouncing with the rest of the market for now.

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 1:43 pm

@eryba1: so not a time to start scaling in –

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 1:46 pm

@Turtle108: ohh U can scale in if you want to start adding tranches in this name, I am just saying like many other stocks that broke their 50 day moving, its is not up trending and all bounces are suspect for now even from very oversold levels. I am looking for a further bounce overall, lets see if it comes, or was this THE bottom time will tell.

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 1:49 pm

@eryba1: gotcha. thanks.

jakef1111

February 4, 2014 – 1:50 pm

@cody will you be buying any vix or spx puts?

carl

February 4, 2014 – 2:00 pm

jakef1111

February 4, 2014 – 2:01 pm

Or is it too late for that

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 2:01 pm

Turtle108

February 4, 2014 – 2:01 pm

just FYI, GILD announces earnings after the close today- getting some nice upgrades already- but, you never know what the price will do-

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 2:03 pm

@Turtle108: we all know earnings are 50/50, and in this overly pessimistic market where no upside is safe for now? Let see the #’s and reaction to them.

after some time in the market and yes we are down something like 1200 dow points in almost a straight line but U cant start to feel SOME signs stability. The market is trying with about 90 min left would be nice to see some support / basing, tera ferma trying to be put even all the way down here after this 5-8% corrections in the averages and 10+% corrections in MANY stocks. Lets see how the day ends.

jakef1111

February 4, 2014 – 2:33 pm

@eryba1: so do you feel like putting money to work on the longside or buying downside protection?

doug.sekula

February 4, 2014 – 2:33 pm

@eryba1: @chrismossey: Just added HEMP on the dip today. Still .25ish. In my eyes good spec play on the weed. More hope then a bankruptcy play. Ideas??

rkumar

February 4, 2014 – 2:34 pm

hemp–otcbb??

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 2:36 pm

@doug.sekula: mdbx- go look at the realsports marijuana show just aired

doug.sekula

February 4, 2014 – 2:40 pm

Shot up like a weed the last couple days. LOL. Wish I bought MDBX or FNMA in the .20’s when I had the chance and was thinking about it. Missed both! Coworkers were buying FNMA at .22. Sheldon made a fortune. He sat and held for about a year. Patience???? Scary to me but it paid off.

jakef1111

February 4, 2014 – 2:40 pm

@doug.sekula: mjna looks interesting too

doug.sekula

February 4, 2014 – 2:40 pm

doug.sekula

February 4, 2014 – 2:42 pm

As much potential tax money it can bring in and if all goes well in Colo, this will become legal all over this land.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 2:42 pm

@doug.sekula: too scary unless a small % in. mdbx from single digits to 75 now back to 34. wild rides

doug.sekula

February 4, 2014 – 2:43 pm

Think I heard Cramer this morning talking he was going to look into these weed stocks

doug.sekula

February 4, 2014 – 2:45 pm

@eryba1: At .25 ill take some of those huge profits in FB @63 today and roll them into a little spec. Wanted to buy HEMP at .15 at the open but was driving to work.

doug.sekula

February 4, 2014 – 2:46 pm

Still 80% in FB. Was thinking about some XONE.

doug.sekula

February 4, 2014 – 2:49 pm

@jakef1111: Thanks! Gonna buy some of that too. Didnt know about that one. Got the “Medical” in the title too. Nice….

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 2:58 pm

apple acting well found support at 495-500? some TA think no resistance until 525 area, lets us see how the markets close close today and asia acts overnight. A stock pickers market as the S&P is down 4% YTD and some names on Codys list are performing well YTD.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 3:05 pm

interesting to see earnings from TWTR tonight. If not good will it drive people to FB stock. If OK but growth not rampant will it drive investors to FB great Q and stock? if good will it be a 2 man race FB vs. Twtr?

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 3:14 pm

Hard numbers are tough to come by since the company never releases specifics when it can avoid it. But best estimates are that close to 20 million consumers have Prime memberships, and they spend about twice as much in a year as non-Prime customers.- http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2014/02/04/amazon-prime-price-increase-customers/5204489/

eryba1

doug.sekula

February 4, 2014 – 3:29 pm

@eryba1: That is cool

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 3:30 pm

@doug.sekula: YES!!!!

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 3:30 pm

whats not cool is market loosing 70 pts so far in straight line + 95 to + 20

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 3:36 pm

@doug.sekula: I think 500-1B people if they heard about it will use it, its a lot of fun to see hastle free, music and all and super fun to see at least once.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 3:42 pm

S&P cuts puerto rico credit rating to junk, thus the fast decline we saw, spooked markets and jumpy already.

eryba1..any thoughts on TDPIX fund focused on 3d printing just opened yesterday basically a basket of those stocks

ebdavids

February 4, 2014 – 5:00 pm

@eryba1: (or anyone) Hi — if you’re still there…in last week’s Q&A, when i asked Cody about some alternative plays on the coming rate rise (other than puts on IEF which i have), he suggested i look into TLT and TBT (but go far out for expirations). You familiar with these? I looked ’em both up, hard to figure out the different bond plays they represent — feeling very dumb all of a sudden –with the description suggesting one is ALREADY a contrarian play (so one wouldn’t buy puts or shorts). Got a clue? I could alwaysask Cody tomorrow. Thanks.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 5:04 pm

@Teewilly: find out what stocks they hold, what % those stocks make up the fund.

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 5:04 pm

@ebdavids: best time to ask him is tomorrow on your options play hedges

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 5:09 pm

@Teewilly: so there U go not just 3d but GE. Need to see all its holding and what % each company makes up of this new fund.

Teewilly

February 4, 2014 – 5:10 pm

basically 40 companies some pure plays but related as well..no track record of performance and a brand new fund manager so risky….

eryba1

February 4, 2014 – 5:11 pm

@Teewilly: yes risky as always as concentrated in 3d but lok at all 40 names and get the % of each in the fund to know your risk better and 3d stocks itself are down 15-35%

chrismossey

February 4, 2014 – 7:34 pm

What is up with the TWTR earnings report. Why is it not out yet? Day wrong?

chrismossey

February 4, 2014 – 7:35 pm

ah, it is tomorrow on their webpage, another outlet had it as today.

Jeffhok1970

February 4, 2014 – 7:44 pm

@ebdavids: In theory – TLT goes up when bond prices go up (yields down); TBT goes up when bond prices go down (yeilds go up). both are 2x on some 20 yr bond. And that is all I know…

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 8:16 am

@chrismossey: it reports wednesday, not tuesday.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 8:20 am

ADP data today at 8:30 will guide the market, EVEN if its has been WRONG its an early TELL for some about the jobs # for friday. Everyone is pricing in and fearful of a recession this polar arctic dome of cold snow NYC is seeing again today the whole east coast is in the same boat. And another storm this weekend. No business as everyone is busy digging out day after day week after week. However I think that is where tech thrives digital commerce from amazon , nflx, goog, fb etc

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 8:21 am

adp 8:15- my mistake its out economy added 175K jobs vs expected 185K gold up 1%

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 8:31 am

Look at this its early and FEEBLE but the baltic dry index is up 2 points to 1084 1st time in weeks it is up.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 8:52 am

Strange-Currencies – u excited to have the olympics in russia?

eryba1

DDD – announces earnings stock down 13% and taking 3d stocks with it- http://finance.yahoo.com/news/3d-systems-announces-preliminary-full-134500367.html

calmdaw1

February 5, 2014 – 9:04 am

DDD has been a great short

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 9:06 am

Trader’s Chart of the Day to remind you this ain’t panic or pain or fear yet. $DJIA $SPY

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 9:06 am

Yes, I think there’s still more bubble in the $DJIA $NASDAQ $SPY stock markets to come, but that don’t mean I’m a blind bull, eh? Took some profits at highs, now being patient.

Jeffhok1970

February 5, 2014 – 9:08 am

@Cody: patience seems to be key.

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 9:09 am

@Jeffhok1970: Yup, for now.

Jeffhok1970

February 5, 2014 – 9:10 am

@Cody: I was going through the board last night. I totally missed your Dig about CMG food the other day. Hate to miss a dig. So my friend, Yeah, you New Mexican’s sure are proud of your food especially anything with chile

I agree on some level. I have had my fair share of green chile cheese burgers at the Owl Cafe and they are great. I have also eaten too many smothered burritos at the Frontier Restaurant in Albuquerque to count (plus I don’t remember half of them). I might even argue that Caliches in Las Cruces has the best custard. But I also appreciate the CMG Chicken Burrito Bowl with black beans, fajita veggies, sour cream, pico de gallo and the green tomatillo sauce. Plus, I can get one just about anywhere and they taste the same. If only the Owl Cafe delivered to Denver

calmdaw1

February 5, 2014 – 9:11 am

DDD – highly volatile stock that had been on a huge run, yet you could pick up the weekly 70 puts for under 30 cents. Awesome

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 9:11 am

@Jeffhok1970: Wow, you know ur NM food. Love it.

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 9:13 am

@calmdaw1: Somebody with those $DDD puts is very happy today. I wish I’d hedged more or sold more, obviously, but it is what it is. The report is full of hype and just okay numbers…the markets, especially in this sell off environment, needed more. I’m not going to buy back any DDD, not even a tranche yet.

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 9:14 am

This is why the stock sells off today, despite the hype in the press release. Accordingly, the company expects its non-GAAP earnings per share to be in the range of $0.83 to $0.87, below its previously expected guidance of $0.93 to $1.03 and its GAAP earnings per share to be in the range of $0.43 to $0.45.

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 9:14 am

I have complained about DDD’s management before, and today I’m truly ticked off at them.

Nels

February 5, 2014 – 9:19 am

XONE tranche opportunity number 2, on the DDD sympathy sell?

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 9:19 am

@Nels: Perhaps, but I’m going to see what they give us today before deciding anything.

Nels

February 5, 2014 – 9:23 am

Cody, you seem to be online quite a bit lately (much appreciated)….and I’m wondering if the little girl is keeping you up at night?! LOL

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 9:23 am

@Nels: Yes, less sleep, but my wife is really the one zombie-d out for lack of sleep.

calmdaw1

February 5, 2014 – 9:27 am

@Cody – congrats on the little girl. Kids are amazing. I would be much more excited about my DDD puts if I wasn’t dealing with a sick child right now

Nels

February 5, 2014 – 9:28 am

That’s a bummer. I have never gotten sick more times in my entire life, than I have in the last 6 years of having kids.

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 9:29 am

@calmdaw1: Ugh, my girl spent the first 8 days of her life in the NICU with an infection. Hang in there, prayers.

calmdaw1

February 5, 2014 – 9:29 am

@Nels – I know what you mean. Kids bring home so many germs. Honestly though, every time one of them is sick I wish I could take it instead of them

Jeffhok1970

February 5, 2014 – 9:29 am

@Cody: you doing anything with your remaining MSFT Calls? not much of a bump after Nadella announcement.

calmdaw1

February 5, 2014 – 9:30 am

@Cody – my oldest spent 10 years being treated for Cystic Fibrosis, being pumped full of meds, only to find out at the age of 13 that he was misdiagnosed. He is completely healthy, thank God.

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 9:31 am

@Jeffhok1970: I have just a few left, I think. Not doing anything with ’em. Made our money on our $MSFT calls and mostly moved on.

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 9:32 am

@calmdaw1: Oh, my! That’s brutal, but so happy to hear he is healthy now!

PJones

February 5, 2014 – 9:41 am

@Cody: What do you think about Arcam, 3D Systems and Stratasys as possible 3D printing opportunities?

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 9:45 am

what the heck happened to ddd?

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 9:46 am

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 9:49 am

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 9:49 am

WTF on ddd. 10k wush.

calmdaw1

February 5, 2014 – 9:50 am

@eryba – I had a few weekly puts

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 9:51 am

looking at adding znga on this pullback from yest was at 4.8 or so 10% rise then gave it almost all bk now down 3% will be patient

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 9:51 am

@Cody: my mental stop of 40 on xone has come and gone. Sell the basket and wait for things to settle out on the 3d printing arena.

PJones

February 5, 2014 – 9:52 am

Sorry…I didn’t mean to ask you about DDD only Statasys and Arcam.

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 9:52 am

@PJones: SSYS is part of the basket

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 9:53 am

@chrismossey: I’m sick to my stomach of the basket’s action today. I still have some pretty big gains in it overall and am considering my next move.

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 9:54 am

I almost puked, not really but very surprised. If we have more weakness this stuff is going to get punished. Goog and apple are on sales. I am going to hang out in those until the dust settles.

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 9:56 am

@PJones: I don’t mean to be short with you on my answers, but I seem to be literally ticked off at the 3d stocks today. Bad topic!

calmdaw1

February 5, 2014 – 9:56 am

OHRP – up nice again this morning

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 9:56 am

@chrismossey: I am thinbking the same added to apple as well and looking into size to add znga back into my portfoli

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 9:57 am

@PJones Seriously, tho, like I said above, I need to consider my next move on the 3D basket, and I’ll be sending out a note with my updated analysis on the sector and what I’m going to do next as soon as I decide what my next move is and I write it up today.

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 9:59 am

@eryba1: I struggle with Znga because I don’t believe in it and think they will never make serious money because they don’t control their destiny. What opportunity do you see in them. Am I missing something because all I see is their utter dependence on FB and if teens are leaving then there are as many games being played.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 10:00 am

I am thinking it may be bought up for its app business in the game sector

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 10:00 am

market popping higher almost in the green from down 65? news?

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 10:02 am

ISM # better than expected = no recession plus ADP # not TERRIBLE = decline overdone? fri jobs # needed but have we swung too far down?

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 10:02 am

Why? It is easier to build new fresh games than take on someones legacy network with an api feed into FB. Hell – you and I could walk down to lower Manhattan and have that coded in a month. Now – the games are unique and have ip but if they can’t generate new ones fast enough then they are irrelevant.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 10:02 am

THIS could / should be the spark for an oversold rally

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 10:03 am

we are so oversold all fearing recession investors are and now + 23 in the green for the down nas MASSIVELY OVERSOLD most in nearly 18 months, lets see if we can bounce and 10 yr yield popping higher

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 10:03 am

Cheers if you are right I am pissed about the 3d’s right now. Sorry for the negative tone. No abnormally large positions but just a collective stinger.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 10:03 am

@chrismossey: vent away!!

Jeffhok1970

February 5, 2014 – 10:03 am

I think Mattrick is going to transform ZNGA into a sustainable, leading player in the mobile game arena. And not just a FB app

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 10:03 am

@chrismossey: @O*&^@#(*&!

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 10:05 am

Ok, enough of that, lets get constructive. I am seeing apples in my eyes. Ambarella also down on me today. Another situation to deal with.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 10:05 am

@chrismossey: amba looks broken heavy vol already and breaking 5o day avg to downside- b careful

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 10:06 am

@chrismossey: as for apple, yes added to this one this morning.

Jeffhok1970

February 5, 2014 – 10:10 am

I for one think the DDD reaction is a bit overblown. Profit #s were low but the revenue #s are basically inline. And honestly the revenue numbers are the ones that matter right now. I don’t get why management pre-announced and assume people are as upset about the surprise.

Cody

February 5, 2014 – 10:11 am

@Jeffhok1970: Good analysis and input, thank u.

carl

February 5, 2014 – 10:15 am

@cody @O*&^@#(*&! 3D

carl

February 5, 2014 – 10:17 am

@cody Pressed return a bit too soon. I was about to say that it was a perfect title for your upcoming analysis of 3D. It really is a poster-child for the following maxim: when you have a profit, take it.

calmdaw1

February 5, 2014 – 10:20 am

I would call the upcoming analysis “losses look bigger in 3D”……

SamsaricSufferer

February 5, 2014 – 10:21 am

@calmdaw1: Funny. I need to take my 3D glasses off then. Hmm, nibble or wait for it to settle?

Jeffhok1970

February 5, 2014 – 10:28 am

DDD is still calling for 40% Y/Y revenue growth. That ain’t bad. However, I have no idea what it will take for them to fill in this monumental gap down.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 10:35 am

was this the WASHOUT? let see how the day unfolds as we get further oversold naz the worst hit

February 5, 2014 – 10:47 am

Anyone have thoughts on TQNT.. reports earning at the close.

JSmith

February 5, 2014 – 10:48 am

@eryba1: do you think this is going to be a temp drop and good buying opp, or the start of something bigger?

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 10:49 am

@JSmith: I would not get in front of this. Our buying of dips has not worked yet. All trenches that have been added are down. Keep the powder dry.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 10:51 am

@JSmith: All I know is this is extreme selling the NAZ came INTO today the most oversold in over a year + and now another 1.3% decline on top of that, its like a coiled spring. This seems like a good entry point on some names but this is panic selling day after day, yes its a correction 6-8% on the averages but individual names down 10-40% if U look at 3d stocks. I am adding some in apple, znga today. It is safer to stand aside and wait for some upside to develop and or a base to be formed. Jobs # is key but adp was not bad and ISM was good this is emotions at work and they can drive MUCH MUCH further than anything thinks

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 10:52 am

The only stocks that are going to get rewarded in this environment are ones that post fb, chipolte type numbers real top line and bottom line growth. Everything else is gutted. The reason is PE’s are contracting and they only we to overcome that is that an expanded PE is truly warranted.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 10:52 am

I se ethe 10 yr is up nealry 1% OIL unch, baltic dry index up today after 6-8 weeks of declines cut down 60%

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 10:53 am

I think my thoughts compliment what @eryba1: is saying very well.

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 10:53 am

@eryba1: cien is getting more interesting. Problem is they don’t report for a while.

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 10:54 am

FB and apple holding like champs.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 10:55 am

@chrismossey: correct at this point the only think needed is some news or other to SPARK a bounce at these extremes. If anyone was in cash and had a shopping list look at what U may have sold higher what U wanted as 1st tranche buying of that is your style look at what your shopping list consists of and where U wanted to get back in.

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 10:58 am

I think you need to stick to big names here. Goog, apple, lnkd, amazon. Small Caps are getting reamed

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 10:58 am

@chrismossey: 2d stocks coming off lows, finding some buyers after their semi crash today

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:00 am

@chrismossey: yes the leaders should hold up at some point / find footing first. lets see if we can get off the MATT anytime today, buyers gunshy ahead of friday jobs # it seems even after adp and ism.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:02 am

There were 64 new lows as of a few minutes ago on the NYSE. That is about half of what we had on Monday’s decline. Thus that’s a positive divergence with an oversold reading.

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 11:04 am

@eryba1: out of all 3d. Not watching the future carnage.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:08 am

@chrismossey: carnage- this market is carnage down 80 fear index at 12 these are extremes IMO. Oil up, baltic dry index up, 10 yr yield UP at some point something has to matter its as if a strong recession is being priced in 2 weeks time so far very powerful and all one sided

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:11 am

@chrismossey: this is why we sell rips and buy dips if thats ones style, always have cash on hand, the market always gives U an opportunity to get in. Here we are and NO one wants to buy the hardest trade as cody would say is to buy now, never feels RT to do so at extremes, and this is an extreme situation

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:13 am

U dont get this oversold, fear index at 12 lowest we heard was 10 at tops. Lets see how this market develops as the day goes on.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:14 am

INTXC from 26.75 to 23.5 near 15% correction in the green now

I am buying a couple more March VIX $16 puts. I have never made much money buying vix calls but have had some success buying puts when the vix is high.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:23 am

10 yr yield slowly rising.

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 11:25 am

@eryba1: I am nibbling. Still think we stay week into the jobs number. Winter has the data really screwed up and people will go into the weekend light.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:26 am

@chrismossey: very well maybe. Just know we need some spark for people to say hey no recession or other as this so far has panic written all over it no bounce no nadda no nothing! it is a coiled spring when its released it should fly for a bit

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 11:27 am

@eryba1: amzn – not bad at 343.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:27 am

@chrismossey: I think so

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:28 am

even if for a trade

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:28 am

oDD down 80+ on the dow naz was down 1.4% the TRIN never spiked

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:30 am

Jeffhok1970

February 5, 2014 – 11:30 am

@eryba1: what is the TRIN you speak of?

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:31 am

@Jeffhok1970: fear index from a man names **** arms.

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 11:33 am

for the life of me I cannot find what TRIN means? Can someone point me in the right direction?

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:33 am

@chrismossey: google knows it all- 1st and only stop 99% of the time, enjoy- https://www.google.com/search?q=trin+index&oq=trin+index&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.1770j0j4&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=91&ie=UTF-8

Jeffhok1970

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:37 am

@Jeffhok1970: I dont see it on yahoo finance

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 11:37 am

Ok, the TRIN is low right now which accompanies strong days in the market. How should this be interpreted?

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:38 am

@chrismossey: yes HI trin readings above 1 = fear above 2 = extreme above 3 well then panic throwing baby with bath water which we saw Feb 2nd

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 11:38 am

The TRINQ which is more relevant to us really spiked today.

chrismossey

February 5, 2014 – 11:39 am

Hit 1.71 today.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:40 am

@chrismossey: todays hi was 1.19

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:42 am

10 yr yields still rising should be a good barometer as BOD market is multiple times larger than the stock market and its acting better today.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 11:43 am

thats BOND market

PJones

February 5, 2014 – 12:02 pm

@Cody: Not a problem…bear with my questions; I’m very green in this area/investing.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 12:04 pm

lets watch the yield on the 10 yr a good barometer of late. gogo and apple up 1% each, LNKD and sndk in the green, IBM CSCO, select finacials, OIL

jakef1111

February 5, 2014 – 12:05 pm

Did anyone go 3d shopping today?

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 12:05 pm

@jakef1111: cody is now in an email alert to us all xone and ssys

jakef1111

February 5, 2014 – 12:06 pm

Everything was on sale

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 12:06 pm

@jakef1111: the market and everything still is BIG time IMO

Jeffhok1970

February 5, 2014 – 12:17 pm

I read cody’s alert. Is he calling for a Y2K collapse or a 2009 financial meltdown? That is pretty dire.

MikeM

February 5, 2014 – 12:21 pm

@jakef1111: I added xone earlier. Also added tqnt.

jakef1111

February 5, 2014 – 12:24 pm

@MikeM: i bought off of ssys warning… This is a good hammering today im gonna wait till the end of the day and see

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 12:24 pm

@Jeffhok1970: y2k like decline? he had called for a 5-10% decline to commence at the end of jan to beg feb and thats what we are in now

jakef1111

February 5, 2014 – 12:26 pm

Aapl has firmed up a little i bought some for a quick trade and sold too early… Ohh well it would nice to see it rally to 525 and consolidate and move above it….. Seasonally this is supposed to be a good time…. Lets see what happens

jakef1111

February 5, 2014 – 12:46 pm

@eryba1: i think the s&p will have a hard time getting above 1800

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 12:47 pm

@jakef1111: U may be right a bounce to that level +/- and then pullback again

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 12:51 pm

@jakef1111: let the market tell us what is going on for now no buyers YET to get us from these oversold levels select stocks doing their own thing.

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 1:05 pm

will the stock market take a cue from the larger bond market and its 1.6% rise in yields today to 2.66 from 3.2 on 1/1/14?? Its lock setp with our stock correction yet today its not as gloomy and bouncing

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 1:16 pm

dow and S&P in the green QQQ there as well now the NAZ turn? 10 year yield fell 20% from 2014 start 3.2 to 2.6 now a bounce. Same in markets things not as bad, was this the woosh today? we will know more days later but for now a bounce can be expected of sorts lets see how far and how long it lasts.

@eryba1: @Cody: I would value your opinion on Israel based $CAMT as an alternative to or an addition to the 3-D basket. It reports next wk..

eryba1

February 5, 2014 – 3:56 pm

@MOBYDOC: to be fair at this point to buy ahead of earnings we have all seen is HIT or get murdered. That is up to you and what U know about the company. U can always buy a tranche here and add or wai for some support. Its fallen 20% so far.

Marcin on it: All Star: RobertMarcinPosted … 14m ago well, $hat trick does it again. good quarter, stinky outlook. now a big part of that is inventory drawdown at @aapl, and thats understandable. and the year guide seems ok. but these guys just seem to have rosanna rosannadanna issues, there’s always something. still holding stock, but annoyed and frustrated. i might get to starboard value place of “throw the bums out!” Like 0 Reply Follow

eryba1

Once again breadth was weak and we are closing lower. Oscillator and gauges all reading downtrend and LOTS of bearishness, but market will react to a spark from these levels if we are to see a POP, maybe tom of Europe rate decision, maybe only fri on Jobs data. Meanwhile lets watch 10 yr yield if it can continue to rise as shows growth vs decline and recession fears sparking this 1200 down 8% decline and 2-3 X that for some stocks. GN all C U tomorrow.
